The financial statements comply with th¢ Charili¢s Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 21X)6 (&s
emendedx the Companies Act 2006. the Memorandum and Articles of ASS￿1&t]0n. and
A￿oUnting and Rep)rting by Charities: Sthtement of Recommended Practice applicabl¢ to
charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard
applicable in the UK and Republic of Ijrland (FRS 102).
The Pastoral Care Trust - Si Nichotas Care Fund (PCT- St Nicholls Care Fund), a private
company limited by uuarantee (SC145282k w&s established in 1993 and is recognised by th¢
Office of the Scottish Chority Re.tvulator as a chariry {SC029832). The company is
re¢ogni5ed by HM Rev￿￿¢ And Customs as having charitsble status for the pur￿Se8 of
Section 505 of the Income and Co¥FKJration TLxes Act 1988. The ¢haritsble objects and
powers of th¢ company are estsbli5h¢d under its Memorandum of As51xiati(trn and the Trust

The Trnst is an 08¢ncy of the Archdiocese of Glasgow although the assistance provided is not
stricted to activities or inteyests within the CatholTe Church.

The Trnstees are respx)nsible for keeping prow accounting record4 for safeguarding the
assets of the Trust and for taking reasonable Steps for tbe prevention and detection of fraud
and other itre8ularitiC5.
Th¢ Trust exists to wovidc help in Christ's name to those mosl in need in society. regardless
of race. ¢olour or ¢r¢¢d. Th¢ objects of the Trust are the relief of poverty. hardship and
distress among pe¥sons suffering from old ag4 mental or physical disability, drng or alcohol
dependency and the *lvancement of educalion in all matter5 affecting young p¢rsons. The
PCT - St Nicholas Care Fund achieves these objectives by awarding grants to groups and
organisations who work with th05e most in need in the Community.
Th¢ Board's granl making policy is s¢t out in full in th¢ Grants Guid8nce Pack which may b¢
obtained from th¢ regislered offi¢e. Generdlty. 8rdnts are available to groups and
or8anisations workin8 lo￿1 communities to meet the needs of disadvantsgd people or
group& The Trust encourages application5 from new and innovative projects, will not
nonnally eommit to long-terni funding or proje£ts, does not provide help to individuals for
personal benefit or to organisations for salary budgels or d¢ficits and dLYS not offer assistaTrce
to any group involv¢d in w)litical ￿paIgnIng whether or not gss(Kiat¢d with tho Church.
OrgAnisations apptying for grants must tomplcte a $tsftd￿ fomi and give details of how the
grant would be used. Guidanee notes are provided with all application forms and both
documents are available on the Archdiocesan webpage. The T￿￿t checks the charitable
ststus of applicants where appropriat¢ and requires full financial inforniation on the
or8anisations requestin8 ￿lstanCe as well as reqyirin8 suilabl¢ rrferertces.
Grant
4ppli¢ations are considertd on an ongoing basis by the Trustees and grants are paid wtthin
two weeks of the Trnstees forn)al Approval. Grants can be Awarded up to a maximum of
£15,000. with averaB¢ of £2,300 per ￿nI. Suttessful projects are monitored within six
months of th¢ grant being awarded.
The Collaboration with Faith in Communty (Scotl8nd} means that situations of need Art
Communicate￿ often resulting in one charity being able to suplxfft a project wh¢n the other is
unable to do so.
ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE
Doll*liolls aDd Allocation of FuDd# - The Tntst ts mainly funded by donations from
the parishes in the Archdiocese of Glasgow. These donalions are received principally
during the seLson of Advent when the third Sunday in Advent is set asid¢ as C8rin8
Sunday and a pulpit apF¢al on ihAt day realise$ on &vernge £40.iXIO. In anti¢ipation of
Adven( the Tmst al￿ distributes Advent Boxes to every parish in the Archdi￿¢$¢ and
to the prim8ry and secondary schools upon requesL Supporters are encouraged to fill
th¢ boxes and return them to the Trust as soon as p)ssibl¢ within or after th¢ Christmas
period. Following ea¢h Advent Appeal. there ts usually a small num￿ of new donors
who wish to cA)ntrib￿c by monthly standing order. in addition to significant numbers
of annual and one-off donations reeeived from individuals.

FINANCIAL REVIEW
The financial ststements are pr¢s¢nted in acwrdanee with the legislation governing the
reporting of ¢hariti¢s in the Charities and Trnstee Investment (Scoiland) Act 2005. the
Charities Accounts {S¢otland) Regulations 2006 (as amended) and Accounting and Reporting
by Cliarities.. Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparin8 their
counts in accordance with the Financial Reporting standa￿ application in the UK and
Republic of Ireland IFRS 102).
The Trustees reFKJrt a 5UTplus of £12,243 for the year (2024: surplus of £103.865) and net
current assets of £50,866 (2024: £63.743).
Investments
The investm¢nts of the Tn￿t include a FM)rtfolio of divers¢ sto&s and shares of £609.103 at
30 September 2025 {2024: £583.983). managed on a discretionary basis by independent
sto¢kbrok¢rs.

The FK)licy of the Tn￿t is ftlr the investmellt prtfolio to k managed on the b￿1$ that th¢
primary objective is a balaThce between capital growth and income ￿UMUlation. subject to a
medium degree of risk.
Eihical Considerations
The Trust seeks not to invest in equili￿ directly or moinly involved in the manufactur¢ andlor
the supply of goods and 5¢rvices whi¢h would be in ¢onflicl with th¢ t¢achings of th¢ Gosp¢l
and the s￿141 t¢achings of th¢ Catholi¢ Churc14 particularly those leachin8s which promo1¢
the dignity of the human person. the saneiity of human life and the imperntive of peace on
earth. Inv¢slm¢nt managers have been instructed to ensure that die specific scle¢tion of
investmenis should tske into account the ethical position of the Catholic ChU￿h.
Yaluation o/In￿3£￿en[ Porrfolio
Sales of investments during the year produced a gain of £6.614 (2024: loss £1.734) and ihe
r¢valuation of the wrtfolio at the end of the fjnaneial year gave rise to an unrealised gain of
£21.593 (2024 gain= £64.171). IM)th of which are included in the Statement of Financial
Activitie5.
Rlsk Aswsment
The Trusi¢aS have conducted iheir own review of the major ri5k$ to which the company is
exposed and systems have been eslablished to mi¢igat¢ thos¢ risks. Internal risks ar¢
minimi5ed by the implementation of procedures for authorisation of all transa¢tions and
projects and to ensure consistent quality of delivery for all opcralional aspects of the
charitable Trust. These pr￿edureS are peTiodically reviewed to ensure ihat they still me¢t the
needs of th¢ charity.

Reserva Polity & Going Concern
The General Fiind is held for th¢ wrpose of the day-tcdoy cash flow requirements of tlie
Trust and is unrestricted. As at the year erf th¢ value of Unrtstri¢t¢d Fieserves was £497.355
(2024: £490J30) and th¢ value of Restricted R¢s¢rves was £162.614 (2024: £157,396). The
current level of Re5ttv¢s are suificient to fund the IoDg term activities of the Pa￿0[41 Care
Fund. No materi41 uncertainties exist at the balance sheet dale.
Disclosure Requirements
For th¢ year ended 30 Sept¢mbeT 2025, the company was entitled to exemption from audit of
it5 fiiiancial statements under section 477 of the CompaDi¢S Act 2006. No notice has been
deposited by m¢tnb¢rs under 5tctioD 476 ulling for an audii in relation to these finan¢ial
statements.
