ACHIEVEMENTS & PERFORMANCE
Significant highlights, events and developments of note in the year include the following:
In relation to activities:
-
Inter-church celebrations. At least three inter church celebrations are generally held each year, encouraging churches of various denominations to come together for an evening to celebrate Jesus and enjoy the different flavours of worship and teaching at various churches.
-
Good Friday Walk - from Paisley North via the Cenotaph to Life Church was supported by approx. 100 people.
-
Easter Sunrise Service was well attended.
-
Filling Station summer evening events - Six sessions of worship and preaching were held at Mossvale Community Church during July/August 2025.
-
Leaders prayer meetings took place once every month.
-
Street Pastors. Paisley Street Pastors continued in the year. The team patrol Paisley town centre on Saturday night. The number of volunteers has remained at the same level, with some new joiners and some leavers.
-
Street Connect. The charity maintains a partnership with Street Connect, a charity that offers hope that can lead to life transformation for individuals struggling with addiction and associated issues such as homelessness and poor mental health.
In relation to funding
-
Ongoing financial support from our members through their annual subscriptions, and regular gifts.
-
Street Pastors volunteers contributed towards the on-going running costs of this project.
-
Specific gifts received from both individuals and local churches towards the Street Pastors project.
Page 3

-
Continued participation by supporters in the Gift Aid scheme.
-
Occasional gift donations from other supporters.
PLANS FOR FUTURE PERIODS
-
Leaders' prayer meetings and CTR prayer will continue to be held on a regular basis (in-person meetings). A move to holding these meetings at different locations has proved to be popular.
-
Working closely with the council, police and local churches, the Street Pastors and Rail Pastors work will continue to be developed. Recruitment of more Street Pastor volunteers is an ongoing priority for the management team in order to ensure the sustainability of the work going forward.
We are grateful to all our supporters and wish to thank them for their ongoing commitment and encouragement.
FINANCIAL REVIEW
The charity reported a surplus of £10,553 (2024: surplus £2,094) for the year and has accumulated reserves of £17,445 (2024: £6,892) as at the year end. The Paisley Street Pastors restricted fund continued to be well supported by the local community. This enabled the project to continue to meet this need within the town.
Reserves policy
The trustees’ policy is to maintain unrestricted funds (ie. funds not committed or invested in fixed assets) at a level that equates to approximately six months unrestricted expenditure. The charity’s unrestricted reserves at 30 September 2025 amounted to £15,799. Six months unrestricted expenditure was estimated to be between £1,200 and £1,400; therefore the current level of reserves is considered by the trustees to be adequate.
Risk Management
All major insurable risks are subject to normal charity and employer’s insurance. Contractual risks are reviewed before being entered into to assess that they could not significantly impact upon the charity’s ability to fulfil its objectives. An annual review of all areas of risk is undertaken by the trustees in conjunction with staff and volunteers responsible for the area of activity being reviewed.
Statement of Trustees responsibilities
Charity law requires the trustees to prepare accounts for each financial year. In preparing these accounts, the trustees are required to:
-
Select suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistently.
-
Prepare the accounts on the going concern basis unless it is inappropriate to presume that the charity will continue in operation.
The trustees are responsible for keeping proper accounting records which disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the charity and to enable them to ensure that the accounts comply with the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charity and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities. The trustees confirm that the accounts comply with current statutory requirements and those of the charity’s constitution.
Independent examination
The trustees recommend that the accounts are independently examined and Mr Iain Higgins was appointed as independent examiner. The trustees recommend that the services of Mr Higgins are utilised until further notice.

INDEPENDENT EXAMINER’S REPORT YEAR ENDED 30 SEPTEMBER 2025
I report on the accounts of Churches Together Renfrewshire for the year ending 30 September 2025 which are set out on pages seven to ten.
Respective responsibilities of the Trustees and Examiner
The charity’s trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the terms of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005 (“the 2005 Act”) and the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006 (as amended) (“the 2006 Regulations”). The charity’s trustees consider that the audit requirement of Regulation 10(1)(d) of the 2006 Regulations does not apply. It is my responsibility to examine the accounts as required under section 44(1)(c) of the 2005 Act and to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
Basis of Independent Examiner’s statement
My examination is carried out in accordance with Regulation 11 of the 2006 Regulations. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts and seeks explanation from the Trustees concerning such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and, consequently, I do not express an audit opinion on the view given by the accounts.
Independent Examiner’s statement
In the course of my examination, no matter has come to my attention
-
which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect, the requirements:
-
to keep accounting records in accordance with section 44(1)(a) of the 2005 Act and Regulation 4 of the 2006 Regulations, and
-
to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with Regulation 9 of the 2006 Regulations
have not been met, or
- to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
