THE FORRES FOOTPATHS TRUST - CHAIRMAN’S REPORT 2025

  1. This report summarises the activities of the Forres Footpaths Trust (FFT) for the period from 1 Dec 2024 to 30 Nov 2025.

2. Meetings. The Committee managed to meet only once during 2025 with a Meeting held in early November.

  1. Repairs, The ongoing task of replacing or repairing the rotting bases of some wooden way markers and sign posts has continued. Replacement of one large finger post is still awaiting funding by the Moray Council Access department.

  2. Website. The Trust’s website continues to run but we are experiencing problems contacting our service provider and cannot update the site at the moment.

  3. Banking. The closing of the local branch of the Bank of Scotland together with the enforced move by the Bank of Scotland from a Treasure’s Account to a Charity Account at the same time as our Treasurer was standing down due to illness created an administrative challenge that took time and patience to resolve.

  4. Footpaths in Adjacent Community Area. The Finderne Community Trust are adjacent to the Forres Community Area and are developing a map and carrying out maintenance on paths in their area. The FFT have 2 non-waymarked walks that use footpaths through the area. FFT Committee Members have been attending the Finderne Community Trust Paths Meetings to provide advice and monitor their activities.

  5. Income and Expenditure. Unusually, the Trust had no income or expenditure in this period as we did not undertake any money raising activities and did not receive any bills from our internet service provider.

  6. Membership. A recruitment campaign to increase the very small Membership of the Trust continues to have no success and the small number of Committee Members is beginning to place the future of the Trust at risk. Moreover, two Trust Members, including the Treasurer, have stood down in this period due to undergoing Cancer treatment.
