LINKnet was established to address the under-representation of minority ethnic people in the areas of employment, education and civic engagements. To achieve those aims, the organisation implements a variety of activities: one-to-one mentoring, one-to-one befriending, employability skills training, UK work experience placement scheme, English language development programme and social, educational and cultural activities.
Objectives: (1) To directly benefit black / minority ethnic individuals as part of its formal mentoring scheme and seek to benefit hundreds more indirectly through the provision of support, advice, consultancy and training. (2) To set up a mentoring programme for black / minority ethnic communities within the areas of the Lothians, Borders and Fife, and other areas of Scotland at the discretion of the Board of Directors, where black / minority ethnic people are currently under-represented in the private and public sector employment and within further and higher education. The programme will be developed under three strands • Education and academic mentoring • Career mentoring • Personal development mentoring All for the bene fit of mankind without distinction of sex or of national, political, religious, culturaL or other opinions or background.
