Provide one to one befriending to people lonely and isolated due to their mental ill health, memory loss or caring role.

Objectives: (a) to reduce loneliness and isolation experienced by people who have a mental health problem by arranging and supporting a one-to-one relationship between them and suitable volunteers, to provide a vital link between them and the community and to promote their self-confidence and feelings of self-worth. (b) to promote public awareness of mental health issues. (c) to promote the understanding of the distress caused by social isolation, psychological and emotional problems and to spread knowledge of the facilities available within the community for those affected by such problems. (d) to seek to co-operate with the statutory authorities in carrying out their duties for the treatment, care, after-care and welfare of those so affected. (e) to promote and encourage co-operation with and amongst other voluntary bodies and organisations involved whether principally or partially with questions of mental health, and between such bodies and statutory authorities. (f) to provide or assist and support the provision of residential accommodation or other social facilities or other facilities of any kind whatsoever within the community for those affected in any way by psychological and social problems, those recovering from such problems and those involved in the care and welfare of such individuals or groups. (g) to promote the understanding and improvement of the rights of persons affected by psychological and emotional problems, to campaign and seek to influence the development of social policies and services. and (h) to promote and provide for education, training, research and the dissemination and interchange of knowledge and information in the area of mental health.
