Achievements and performance Summary of the main achlevements of the charity during the financial poriod 2025-2025 has been another busy and productive year for Relats'onships SCotl￿d - StrEtland IRSSI. RSS provides a range of support servi￿5 to individuals, families, and comrnunities across Shelland, including.. • Family Mediation . Community Mediation Rela1￿nShiP Counselling . Parenting Apart courses In the MKldle support for chSldren affected by parental separation • Trainlng for organlsatlons on conflict and its impacts The organisation is stsffed by a Servlce Mar￿ger (30 hours), a Family Medialor (32 hours), and a Community Relationships Practittiner (21 hours). This core team Is supported by four Assttiate Family Mediators and four As80clate Relatlonship Couns8llor8. Practice supervision is providod for all practilioners in Ilne with good practice standards and the registration requirements of Relationships Scotland. COntin￿uS professional devebpment is strongly encouraged across both employed staff and associates. This yèar. the ernployed Family Mediator successfully completed the Foundation Level in Systemic Family Therapy. The organisation also continued to explore opportunities to Strengthen its training offer, particularly in supporting 8ltuatlons involving complex famity conflict. A kéy focus during the year was the design and launch of a community- wide survey. This 8uriey explored people's exper*nces of i98L￿8 and conflict within their communitles. as well 88 whether Ihey had acce88ed support. The findings will guide the development and targetlng of RSS services to better m88t the needs of the Shetland communlty In the year3 ahead. A signrfic8nt challeng8 this year arose when a major fundlng appllcation. seeking approximately £30.000 per year for fNe years, was unsuccessful. This placed considerable pressure on the organisation's financial position for 2025126. raising the possibility of redundancies if altemab've funding could not be secured by April 2025. The risk was partially mitigatèd when the Client Coordinatrjr left their post in January 2025. A decision was taken not to recruit to Ihe vacancy, with the Setvice Manager temporarily assuming these duties until a wider review is completed and new funding is secured, RSS ￿ntInued its path of continuous improvement throughout 2024. A new Client Management System was introduced in early 2025, improving how client infomation is stored and how caseloads are managed and monitored. The organisallon also Idenllfled clearer 81aff values and slrenglhened its focus on team goals, perfomiance measurement, arKI quality of outcorrK•s. RSS remains committed to excellence and to supporting its practth'oner team to deliver highquality 8ervices across all areas of ts work. Financial review Bri•f ststem•nt of th• charlty'8 pollcy on reserves Tha charity stnve8 to maintain a reserve of three•months' operating costs. In 2024-2025 RSS ended the year with a total of £37,309 This is roughly 3 month$ operating costs. It is acknowledged that this roserve will not be sustained in 2025-2026 unless additr'onal funds ar• sources to cover the growing opèratiThJ costs across the ye¥. Relats'onships Scotland - Shetland (RSS) is part of the Relats'onships Scotland (RS) nelwork. As uncertainly remains in the wider RS network as to the longevity of the nalional funding environment. RSS is committed to increasing its funding sources to help maintain and gr¢yw the organisation with as little risk as possible to ts core ￿n￿lOnS.
