The bus is available free of charge to shoppers who are perhaps in poverty, ill, disabled or elderly who might make a small donation anyway. At a minimal charge based on mileage, the bus is available to local groups and organisations like the Girls' Brigade, the Strathaven Balloon Festival, the Bethany Group, various Guilds and the Outreach Church to help them pursue their activities. The bus is driven by volunteers.
