## **Structure, Governance and Management**

## **Governing Document**

The Church is a charitable unincorporated association. The purposes and administration arrangements are set out in the constitution.

## **Recruitment and Appointment of Trustees**

The trustees are elected at the Church Annual General Meeting as laid out in the constitution.

## **Objectives and Activities**

Our purposes, as recorded in the constitution, are to advance the Christian faith primarily but not exclusively to people of Chinese origin in Edinburgh and the surrounding areas.

## **Achievements and Performance and Financial Review**

The 2024 Church Committee was elected in the 2022 AGM; they are (Chairperson), (Treasurer), (Secretary) and ; the pastors are ex-officio members.

We give thanks to the Lord for guiding us all through the past year.

As the pandemic restriction been lifted, we can make full use of all the available rooms for our worship, Sunday school, group, and fellowship meetings. Some fellowships are having online meetings as this option provides flexibility as our members are coming from diverse geographic area. Throughout the year, we can see a steady increase of attendance in Sunday service, both English and Chinese congregation. The average Sunday Chinese attendance was 112 while the English service was 28. As the congregation size increased, there was also increased fellowship groups and Sunday School attendance. This also give rise the need of more leaders and helpers in various ministries as well as spaces. Praise God that we acquired a new office in March. In the baptismal service in May, seven brothers and sisters were baptised as well as two brothers and sisters become church members.

## **Independent Examiner’s Report To the Trustees of Chinese Evangelical Church of Edinburgh For the year to 31 December 2024**

I report on the accounts of the charity for the period from 1 January 2024 to 31 December 2024 which are set out on the following pages.

## **Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner**

The charity’s trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the terms of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005 and the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006 (as amended). The charity trustees consider that the audit requirement of Regulation 10 (1) (d) of the Accounts Regulations does not apply. It is my responsibility to examine the accounts as required under section 44 (1) (c) of the Act and to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.

## **Basis of independent examiner’s statement**

My examination is carried out in accordance with Regulation 11 of the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006 (as amended). An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts and seeks explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently I do not express an audit opinion on the view given by the accounts.

## **Independent examiner’s statement**

In the course of my examination, no matter has come to my attention

1. which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements:

   - to keep accounting records in accordance with Section 44 (1) (a) of the 2005 Act and Regulation 4 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations, and

   - to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with Regulation 9 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations have not been met, or

2. to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
