Convenors Report
This year we received our Kings Award for Voluntary Services in a small ceremony at Base in April, presented by the Lord Lieutenant.
We had our official Base opening on a glorious day in August and had our 26 birthday in September. We also received a nomination from former MP Alyn Smith for his “Local Heros Award” in February.
We are continuing to work on our connections with the Fire Brigade, Police Service and Scottish Ambulance … which the committee will continue to do this coming year.
The Team have been represented in meetings with Water Safety Scotland, PADS Scotland, Forth Valley Voluntary Services Group, The Drymen Show, PAWS Scotland (Partnership Approach to Water Safety) and Clacks and Stirling VS Group.
Our sponsors continue to be very generous and Arnold Clark specifically have extended our vehicle leases for T1 and T3 by yet another year. We have also had great support from iCom, (not the Dragon!) and Highland Signals this year.
We have 11 new members this year, welcome all. We also have 3 new First Responders congratulations . We had 3 members leave the team.
We have covered 10 first aid events, with 3 emergency service call outs, 24 TECS shifts covered (9 call-outs) and 39 FR shifts covered (6 call-outs). 10 Heartstart … now Community CPR Classes, teaching a total of around 235 adults and kids how to save a life. We have given between events, shifts, call-outs, talks, training and meetings members as a whole 2649 hours and 7 minutes to the Team! Thank you.
Thank you everyone for your continued support and efforts to keep our team doing everything we pledge to do in our constitution, for our local communities
This year we thank for all the work she has done as Treasurer, on the committee and with the Team in general. We are sorry to see her leaving. We also say thank you to for their work on the committee over the last 3 and 2 years respectively …though they are remaining part of the Team. After 11 years in the Team, with 10 of those on the committee…. I too will be stepping back and wish the new committee every success.
The Callout phone has been looked after by several team members this year… always looking for people to help….
2024
==> picture [208 x 214] intentionally omitted <==
Looking forward we have ….
Several first aid events already in the diary
Community CPR classes continuing with new regular classes starting at Base, please check D4H for info and your availability.
Defib checks are going to be revamped, all iPads updated and stronger links developed between PAD Scotland
TECS training/ refreshers available in February
…. And congratulations to Team member on the birth of their first son
EQUIPMENT OFFICER ANNUAL REPORT 2024
This year we saw a few changes in the Team regarding equipment, we invested in a new VHF
radio system to replace our ageing 20 year old UHF one. Although it took a huge chunk out of the Team account by purchasing it we have already seen a benefit from it.
Other changes have been updating parts of our uniform which again a lot of it was preloved prior
to us getting hold of it. We will hopefully continue to purchase equipment and clothing as and when there is money available to do so, however there are lots of things besides clothing and equipment that we as a Team require so the Committee need to look into everything that people ask for as funding is so tight just now, if you do have specific requests for stuff, it would be great if you were able to provide quotes and if possible a funding source for it.
TRAINING OFFICER REPORT 2024
I think we have managed to improve the training this year, a number of factors have made it possible, and not all down to me. As a Team we have made big inroads in being able to use SFRS facilities, mainly down to Brian and we hope to continue in this. Secondly with the influx of trainees it has given us numbers to do some realistic training, it is not possible to run training with only four people turning up, as i said earlier in the year i would like to see some areas of training become mandatory for everyone.
Lastly after three years of badgering the management people at Erskine Veterans Hospital have decided to allow the Team to use the estate both internally and externally, just talk to the members that used it not long ago, the hospital are also keen to expand the relationship with us so that will be something to work at in the New Year.
Auchengillan Scout Centre was used for stretcher training in a way that had never been done
before,so different was it that the warden thought we were in her words aff oor heids" this was on the back of assisting with a Beaver badge day where and myself attended. Again where possible we will continue to offer as much varied training as we can if resources and numbers allow. If you would like to see some different types of stuff being done get in touch with any Committee member.

AGM Defibrillator Coordinator Update
My apologies for not being able to attend this years AGM however having a baby less than 2 weeks old can restrict your time! Hence this very short summary.
Unfortunately I have not been able to look after the defibrillators as much as I had hoped this year which, as you can imagine, has left the paperwork a bit behind. Emma and Nikola are taking over this year and I will offer my help/knowledge as much as possible.
TSAR (Trossachs Search + Rescue) Defibs
-
The team has 4 Phillips defibs which have now been discontinued, and we are still waiting to hear from SAS (Scottish Ambulance Service) about replacements.
-
Another spare unit is currently placed at the Post Office in Callander
-
Another spare unit is currently placed at the Mini Market in Dunblane. I currently have the defibrillator to pass into E to have sent off for repair.
Defibrillator cabinet in base office.
There is a spare cabinet in the office at Base which is to replace the damaged Defib at Northend Garage in Dunblane. Unfortunately we are no longer able to have this installed free of charge and so could not have it installed until funds were in place. Our generous donor, who committed last year to donating on a yearly basis to look after select Defibs in Dunblane, had not made his donation for a while which caused some concern but the money has finally come through. This means we can finally arrange to have an electrician install the cabinet (hallelujah)
Missing defibs
The Drymen Defib went missing this year and was sadly not recovered. The local community development trust admitted defeat and raised the funds to replace the Defib and continue to look after it in the future (woohoo!)
On the other hand we have still not heard anything regarding the defibrillator that went missing at Inversnaid Hotel. The latest I heard was that the hotel was willing to replace the defibrillator but they would not have it installed outside (no 24/7 access)
IPAD Software Update
There are still a number of IPAD defibs to be sent away for a software update. Unfortunately the online portal to organise this has since closed and we now have an email contact to arrange for collection of any devices needing updated. Most of the defibs we have sent away to date have needed replacement batteries at a cost of £200+ so it’s not simply a case of sending the device off. If we don’t have a responsible party to cover the cost of a new battery we cannot just send it off and pay for it ourselves. We are a charity!!
Many thanks to all who have lent a helping hand.
