Summary of the main achievernents of the charlty during the flnancial perlod
The Day Centre has continued to be popular and well-regarded. Activities have continued to
grow In the numbers attending and the day centre provides tai chi, keep fit, tea dances, local
trlp5, crafts, board games and knit and natter on a regular schedule. In addltlon a longer trip
were held, u51n8 a community transport mlnlbus as well a5 our own minibus.
Staff and volunteers took part in the annual sponsored walk, organlsed by Lockerbie Rotary Club
to benefit local charitles. One of our planned three coffee mornlngs normally held during the
year had to be cancelled during to a severe storm. We held our Christmas and New Year partles
at Cressfield Hotel as usual and both were well attended and enjoyed very much by all
attending.
We were able to spend the remainder of the two grants recelved from East Dumfries5hlre
Community Beneflt Company In 2023124. The Day Centre has had new floorcoverln& the maln
hall has been decorated and easy chalrs purchased.
Due to a change In the fundlng arran8ements from Dumfries & Galloway Health & Soclal Care
Partnershlp (admlnlstered by D&G Council), all day centres had to submit a competltlve tender
for fundin8 from 2024125 onwards. As a result of a successful tender, we have received a 6%
increase In our fundlng.
Flnancial Revlew
We aim to have sufflclent reserves to operate for 3 months In case of a reduction or cessation of
grant fundlng and to hold a redundancy fund sufficient to meet legal requirements, should the
occasion arise. The Trustees a8reed that reserves held for these purposes should be £40,000.
Just under 50% of our funding is derived from the sale of lunches, meals-on-wheels, fundraisln
room hire and generous donations. In 2024125, the 53% came from the Dumfries & Galloway
Health & Social Care Partnershlp contract.
We are grateful for having received many personal donatlons, together with those from funeral
collections or In memory of former members. Local branches Gre88s have glven us excess
supplies, and these have either been used wlthin the day centre or made avallable to members.
The support of the local community in our catchment area of Ecclefechan and the surroundlng
vlllages has been greatly appreciated - donatlng to and sUPPOrtlng fundraising; volunteering
within the day centre and helplng wlth small maintenance tasks. It would be very costly for the
day centre without this valuable donated time.
