REPORT
As always thls has been a very busy year atAYP, providin8 the young people of Alyth a safe
and welcoming place to Join in regular and 'not so re8ularf after school and hollday
ac￿vIties.
I was Invited to judge Alyth's Got Talent and along wlth my fellowjudges was impressed not
only by the talent, but also at them having the courage to get up on the stage at all l ! It wa5
also great to see somè ofthe older, more experienced musiaans guiding and encouraging
the newer p3rtlclp2nts, l understand there are more opportunities to take part In The Arts
cornln8 up over the Easter holidays, as well as other interestlng events.
One of the biggest events of the year has to be the vlsit to Germany, which tskes huge
amounts of work and organisation and that's before they go! Once again, the Alyth
Community were amazln8 in their support of AYP and helped raise enough money so that
everyone who wanted to go, had the opportunity. We can't thank you enough.
A hu8e thank you and muth admlratlon must go to
and the team for
consldering taklng a group on such a trip. It's definitely not for the faint hearted l However,
the impact, both immediate and In the long term can't be underestlmated and can be life
changing (for the young people as well as the adults!11. I thinkthe stsff have now recovered
and the travellers are still talklng about what a great time they had.
We have also had our challenges. In partlcular the need to move from our base in The Town
Hall, thankfullywe have been accommodated atThe Community Wing and are grateful for
that. As always, the team have made it happen, wlth a bit of session juggllng things have
settled Into a routlne that seems to be worknng, In the short term at least.
Thls brlngs me on to our next bl8 challenge, of finding a new more permanent home In the
town for AYP. We feel we are well enough establlshed and financially secure for thls next
step, so are now in talks with the council about taklng over the recently closed muse(Jm
building. Thls feels like a good opportunity. We are well on the way with the paperwork but
as I'm sure you can Imaglne an AssetTransfer take5 time! You wlll of course be kept updated
as thln85 move along.
AYP contlnues to go from strength to strength, wh ich is only possible because of the
dedicatlon and hard work from
and hls team. Thls is not just a lob for
vocation. which he puts hi5 heart and soul into. It Is appreciated and valued.
Thank5. riiu5t also go to the committee for thelr continued efforts and Interest many of
whom don't actually have chlldren/young people in AYP now. Your time and continued
support are also appreciated and valued.
