Recruitment and Appointment of Trustees

The Association's trustees are appointed or re-appointed at the Annual General Meeting held every year.

Governing Document

The Association is a charitable unincorporated association and the purposes and administration arrangements are set out in our constitution.

Charitable Purposes

Our purposes, as recorded in our constitution, are

(a) to promote the benefit of the community resident within Strathaird and Torrin Estates without distinction of sex or of political or religious or other opinions by associating the local and statutory authorities, voluntary organisations and inhabitants in a common effort to advance education, to further health and, in the

interests of social welfare, to provide facilities for recreation and other leisure time occupation so that the conditions of life of the aforementioned inhabitants may be improved; and (b) to establish or secure the establishment of a Village Hall/Centre and to cooperate with the local statutory authority in the maintenance of such a Hall/Centre for activities promoted by the Association and its constituent bodies in furtherance of the above objects.

Activities

The village primary school remains mothballed so we are dependent on regular users such as the Badminton Club, Playgroup and Metafit. This is supplemented by the hall being used for weddings, charity lunches, concerts, ceilidhs and teas. In addition, the hall also used by the Church of Scotland for an annual Communion and biannual services. The hall also leases rooms and storage to the Village Café and the local Historical Society

Trustee Remuneration and Expenses

The trustees received no remuneration during the year.

Transactions Between EVHA and Trustees

The EVHA rents out premises in the Hall to Rosario Baqueriza-Jackson for use as the Elgol Café who took over running this enterprise in January 2025. The annual rent is £180 per annum and a share of bins contract

Reserves

The Association held a balance of £37908.38 at the year end. This includes a deficit of £3426.62 for the year. £1570.38 of the balance is restricted as being monies that were raised for the refurbishment of the local playpark. This sum will allow us to cover variations in expenditure or income from hall users and help to fund ongoing building maintenance costs.

Donated Services

Various members of the community, including trustees, may undertake maintenance tasks and gardening on the property as well as providing unpaid support staff for various functions.

Approved by the Trustees and signed on their behalf.
