SWI Lanarkshire Federation Chairman's Annual Report

Another year has gone by and we still continue against the odds. Closing Halls and shrinking membership. We have taken part in Local and National Competitions. Congratulations go to Gilmourton and Jackton who came 2nd and 3'd at National Variations on a Theme (Poetry). Also to Glassford and Chapelton who were our Green Bowls teams at National Competition held at Helensburgh. Chapelton eventual runnersup to winners Dumfries 1.

As a Federation, members have judged at a variety of Annual Shows. There was the usual involvement with South West Area, Annual Lunch and discussion on a variety of Wl related topics. Several of our local groups combine every year to hold a lunch in aid of CHAS. Against the current economic situation this was a success.

Our Rural Ramblers go from strength to strength and our Saturday Workshop and 2 day craft classes attract good numbers of members.

At National Level there have been Meetings in Edinburgh and at Stirling to attend. How do we keep SWI afloat?

On a personal note, I attended Glassford's 90th Birthday and Coulter's 105th. Both events, most enjoyable.

Several of us attended the Funeral of Past President Annette Gracie.

Finally my thanks go to all of the Executive Committee and to members who support us loyally all year.
