Charitable purpose
Our purpose is the operaf on of a village hall and community ￿ntre forthe benefit ofthe
inhabitants of the village and distrlct of Som for community, social and educational
purposes
ActEvities and achievements
The key objective to build the reputation of the Hall as a Community Hub for Sorn Village
and surrounding area. We have secured Grants from Tincornhill Quarry Fund. East Ayrshire
Council and Awards for All. The Maintenance and Repairs spend is the largest we have had
in a while but the Hall and surmundin8 area reflect the work that's been going on. We still
have a tie-in with the Gaiety Theatre as a satellite location for various productions, with
additional music and other events across the year. The 5orn To Be Wlld project was
successful, introducing music to youngsters in schools In the area and live band music for
the adults as well. With the resignation of the previous chairman during this financial year
I thank the present committee for thelrdedicats.on and commitment.
Trustee remuneration and expenses
The trustee5 did not receive any remuneratlon or expenses during the year
Financial Review
The Receipts and Payment Account for the period shows total Income of E84,967 and total
Expenditure of E68,783 which results in a surplus of E 16,184
Reserves
The Committee considerthat the general fund of E37,748 will enable u5to continue to run
the village hall at current levels for the forthcoming year and we are gethng quotations for
interior painting and maintenance.

I report on the accounts of the charity for the year to 31 De￿rnber 2024 which are set out oft
pa8es 4 to 6.
Respective Responslbllltles of Trustees and Examiner
The charit￿5 trustees are responslble for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the
terms of the Charitles and Trustee Investment (Scotlandl Act 21M)5 and the Charities Accounts
(Scotlandl Regulations 2￿6. The chaiity trustees consider thal the audit requirement of
Regulation Iolllldl does not apply. It is my responsibility to examine the accounts as required
under section 44 111 Icl of the Act and to state whether particular matters have come to my
attention.
8a5is of Independent Examlnerfs Ststement
My examination is carried out in accordance with Regulation 11 of the Charities Account
(Scotlandl Act 2(A)6. An examination includes a review of the accountin8 records kept by the
charity and compari50n of the accounts presented with those reiords.
It also includes
consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the aicounts and seeks explanations from
the trustees concerning such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the
evidence that would be required in an audlt and consequentFy I do not express an audit opinion
on the view given by the accounts.

The accounts have been prepared underthe receipts and payments basis and are
in accordance with The Charitles and Trustee Investment Iscotland) Act 2005 and
the Charitles Accounts Iscotlandl Regulations 21Th las amended).
Flxed Assets
The heritable property, consi5tin8 of the Village Hall and car park, is recorded at
nominal value of £1 as there is no reliable cost available, and the trustees
consider that the significant cost required in order to obtain an open market is
unjustified for the charity's ongoing operation.
The property is held in trust by the Hall Trustees for the benefit of the inhabitants
of the village and distrirt of Sorn for community, social and educational purposes.
Funds
Unrestricted funds are those that may be used at the discretion of the trustees,
in furtherance of the objetts of the charity.
Restricted fund5 may only be used for specific purposes. Restrittions arlse when
Specified by the donor or when funds are raised for specific purposes. Durin8 the
vear, the charity received the following restricted income.
