SWI Midlothian Federation has been bringing joy and new opportunities to women in Midlothian for more than a century celebrating the diversity of women's interests, from crafting to baking to promoting women's wellbeing. The Federation supports approx 310 women in 10 Institutes across Midlothian. The Federation acts as the link between SWI Central Office staff, Board members and Institute committees passing information back and forth as necessary and required. The Federation holds a show of members skills every 18 months and organises classes to help members improve their skills whether it be in handcrafts, cookery, arts, photography. The Federation also organises a number of informal and social gatherings during the year to allow members to meet each other and share experiences and help to promote mental health and wellbeing.

Objectives: The aims of the organisation shall be: a) To advance the education and skills of women and girls • To provide a platform for social activities and networking • To promote the preservation and development of Scotland's heritage and culture • To promote and work with like-minded organisations at home and abroad
