The parents of cadets, friends of the Squadron and former leaders/instructors are actively encouraged to participate in the administration of the Squadron’s fundraising activities. ## **Governing Document** The Association is a charitable unincorporated association and the purposes and administration arrangements are set out in our constitution. ## **Charitable Purposes** Our aims, as set out in our constitution are; to promote and encourage among young people a practical interest in aviation and the Royal Air Force; to provide training which will be useful in the services and Civilian life; to foster a spirit of adventure and develop qualities of leadership and good citizenship. ## **Activities and Achievements** The Squadron has again carried out a full programme of activities and in support of these activities the Civilian Committee have authorised a number of purchases as requested by the Commanding Officer, to further assist the Squadron Staff in carrying out the training programme for the cadets. This year the Squadrons efforts were mainly targeted at the personal development of cadets through their classification training, Duke of Edinburgh Award participation and involvement in a wide range of courses available to them through the Air Training Corps. The Aims of the Air Cadets are: > • To promote and encourage among young people a practical interest in aviation and the Royal Air Force. • To provide training which will be useful both in the Service and civilian life. > • To foster the spirit of adventure and to develop the qualities of leadership and good citizenship. **From: Flt Lt Anthony Staunton Officer Commanding** ## **122 (5th Glasgow)Squadron ATC** Walcheren Barracks 122 Hotspur Street GLASGOW G20 8LQ Tel: 0141 946 3013 Mob: 07823331749 email: oc.122@aircadets.org www.aircadets.org The Squadron hosts an annual awards evening , to which parents of cadets are invited, along with important guests from the ATC and local community. The purpose of this is to reward cadets who have excelled in training, drill, shooting, sports and leadership etc. The Civilian Committee have again authorised a number of payments for engraving, purchasing items and for hosting the evening. The Squadron carried out several fundraising events this year, which raised valuable income, enabling the Civilian Committee to authorise payments for the day to day running of the squadron and to make improvements wherever possible. The Squadron is being run in a professional manner led by the Commanding Officer, Flt Lt Anthony Staunton, who is assisted by a dedicated team of non-commissioned staff and Civilian Instructors, all of whom carry out their duties on a voluntary basis.
