**What the charity does:** Our charity is set up principally to make grants to charitable causes in Scotland. We do this by supporting projects in Langholm which make the town a better place in which to live and by making grants to talented young people in Scotland to enable them to fulfil their potential in sport. the arts and in education. The priority for the trustees is to reverse the economic, social and physical decline of Langholm. We have done this by purchasing derelict, redundant or simply vacant properties which have become an eyesore and refurbishing them to be made available to social enterprises, business start-ups and community organisations at affordable rents. Supporting essential community organisations suck a the local newspaper, theatre, sports clubs and primary and secondary schools. Supporting three major community projects - a community sports centre, building affordable housing and the creation of a country park on land donated to the town by the Duke of Buccleuch.
