On behalf of the Branch Leadership Team (BLT), | want to take the time to thank you for your steadfast support, encouragement and commitment to Forth Valley Disability Sport.

2025~ 2026 has been a year not without challenge, but as | wrote almost a year ago to the day, | believe all good organisations embrace change, dream big and most importantly, put people and relationships at the heart’, something we have had the chance to build on this year.

We have signifieant staffing change, with our previous coordinator moving on to a post with Active Schools in Fife, and we wish her well.

TRUSTEES’ ANNUAL REPORT (continued) FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 DECEMBER 2025 ee

Chairperson’s reflection on 2025 and priorities for 2026 (continued) Daniel Rooney joined us in August of last year, starting full time during the August-October school term and we were delighted to have him on board. The recruitment process was our most tharough to date, including a selection panel of 4, a scenario room with presentation and Q&A, supported by representatives from Scottish Disability Sport SMT, alongside members of our committee and partners. Our new staff structure is as follows:

FVDS Branch Coordinator Mr Daniel Rooney New FVDS Physical Activity Officer Mr Patrick Allan

Our Branch Leadership Team is now comprised of:

Chairperson (inc. HR Lead) Mr Forbes Maginnis Vice Chairperson (inc. HR Support) Mrs Kerry Wood Treasurer Dr Alistair Apedaile (Supported by Alan McGuire) Secretary Mr Alan McGuire (Supported by Forbes Maginnis) Safeguarding Officer Mr Gerry McMenemy

In our continued drive to be an organisation who are future proofed, we have now moved all systems over to cloud-based IT — all BLT members have their own FVDS technology, with shared drives for all information. Our banking is now fully digital, and we have invested in systems for accounting and finance, and are working with an accounting partner for payroll and PAYE systems to ensure that we are both OSCR compliant and also agile to any external scrutiny.

For the second consecutive year, Forth Valley Disability Sport are now completely free of charge for all participants, supporters and families at point of access. This is thanks to the ambitious leadership of the BLT and the continued commitment of our wonderful staff and volunteers. We are committed to continuing this, despite financial challenges, to do the best for our participants and volunteers. We are committed to removing barriers for people with disabilities as we work to ensure we enhance life chances for those who we have the privilege of working alongside.

We are in year 2 of funding from the National Lottery Young Start programme — and without their support we wauld not be able to function as a branch with the staff team that we have. We are committed to improving funding streams, and this will be a key focus of our BLT in 2026 - 2027. Our treasurer has costed an affordable and efficient model to recruit a Finance Office (Jab Title TBC} to work.akemgside us in 2026 and their sole focus will be on FVDS’ finances.

TRUSTEES’ ANNUAL REPORT (continued)

FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 DECEMBER 2025

Chairperson’s reflection on 2025 and priorities for 2026 (continued) We have a new 3 year Branch Improvement Plan and Summary, with renewed vision, values and aims which continue to guide us. We have also, across 2025 — 2026, appointed our own staff which we now host internally as we, unfortunately, did not have the flexibility within the previous agreement with Falkirk Council to change staffing hours, structure, salary or Ts and Cs in a way that worked for the branch. We are delighted to be offering more sessions than we were under the previous hosted arrangement — so the only way is up!

We have exciting plans and an appetite for continued improvement. We must be the change we wish to see, and we must continue to have the young people and adults we are privileged to work with, at the heart of what we are aiming to achieve, at #TeamFVDS, we believe, we #INSPIRE and we look forward to continued partnership working. It is an exciting time for disability sport in Forth Valley as Clackmannanshire Council embark on an ambitious build in their ‘Wellbeing Hub and Lochies School’, which will not only be the largest Passivhaus structure of its kind in Scotland, but also designed with accessibility as an anchor — not an add on—not an afterthought — right at the heart of design, and FVDS are delighted to have been part of this journey. Stirling are also refreshing The Peak and we look forward to seeing the outcome, in terms of inclusion and facilities, that this revamp brings.

There will be challenges ahead — but we have a good team, and an ambition to ‘be the best’. Structural change within Scottish Disability Sport mean that our BLT and Committee may have increased commitments and we may need to scale back some of our ambition, in the short term, but this will be for the greater good in the longer term.

We are also looking to forge new partnerships, potentially new formal working agreements with partners and hopefully, seek out new funders! #TeamFVDS are committed to doing the best for the organisation, and we are keen to speak to anyone who wishes to partner with us. Our non-negotiable is that partnerships must reflect our INSPIRE values, they must have relationships at the centre and they must be mutually beneficial. As Chairperson, | will be reminding any prospective partners that we are led by volunteers, our core team are volunteers, our sessions are free of charge, and we often hire in external expertise (in order to provide a high quality free of charge service), and any agreements must support this.

Looking to 2026; our aext steps are:

We would love to have you on boare— if you can help, get in touch!
