**Purposes:** &#x27;the advancement of education&#x27;,&#x27;the advancement of citizenship or community development&#x27;,&#x27;the provision of recreational facilities, or the organisation of recreational activities, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the persons for whom the facilities or activities are primarily intended&#x27;,&#x27;the advancement of environmental protection or improvement&#x27;,&#x27;the relief of those in need by reason of age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage&#x27;

**What the charity does:** LEAP is a community development charity for older people. We provide a range of activities and services including: adult education &amp; health activities. handyperson services. group &amp; individual befriending services. dementia services and the provision of community hubs for local people and groups to access. Much of these services are provided by volunteers supported by a small team of part time staff.

**Objectives:** 3.1	The charitable purposes of the SCIO (&#x27;the Charitable Purposes&#x27;) are: -  3.1.1	To advance education through a range of project initiatives and activities which introduce new skills amongst people resident within the community. 3.1.2	To advance community development by linking volunteers with community projects increasing opportunities for community participation and active citizenship through volunteering, education and training. 3.1.3	The provision of recreational activities through the promotion and organisation of community activities for the benefit of the community and the wider public. 3.1.4	The advancement of the environmental protection and improvement by promoting sustainable use of material goods and resources through repair, reuse, recycling, use of recycled products and use of surplus and leftover materials and reducing the carbon emissions linked to production and consumption by encouraging reuse and reduction of consumption. 3.1.5	The relief of those in need, in particular vulnerable persons suffering from mental, physical disability, illness, impairment or old age through the provision of services that combat isolation, encourage and support personal development, bring people together to share interests, fulfil goals and develop friendships and provide the community with necessary services to enable them to live independently.
