SHEDDOCKSLEY BAPTIST CHURCH TRUSTEES REPORT FOR THE YEAR TO 31 DECEMBER 2022 Report of the Trustees Th¢ Tru5tee5 present their report and accounts for the year ended 31 December 2022. ObJtttSvfs And Actlviti Th¢ objeciives of the Church are to worship together in Spirit and truth, build the Membe up in the Faith and to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ in word and in adion. The Church aims to develop as a h¢althy Christian community, to serve the local neightx)urhood and ¢0 make a global impact. The objectives of ihe Church are lfilled thiough the following aciivili¢s.' Offering regular opp)rtunilies for Worship, community and mission. Ensuring our building is used to streTLgthen and support local community wellbeing- eg. includÉn8 a physiotherapy group for people with Parkinson's disease. a Tamil Church group. and a brnin injury clinic from Horizons rehab ¢¢ntre. Investing time and ¢nergy in our local schools and ¢ommwiity centres. Pmviding holistic pastoral care for the church and local comrnunity through its pastoral and practical care teams. with an equal emphasis on all ages- from toddlers to the elderly. Providing a peaceful space for friendship and support through its Wellbeing Caf¢. P8rtrering with lo¢al business and government organisations to provide Ial community events. A¢hlevem¢Dts and Perfornian¢e 2022 was a year of regrouping after a global pandemi¢. Some of our in-person projects and ministries began to operate again. Our most significani development of the year was a succe55fv1 search for p Ministry Associaie, which resulted in two (part time) app)inllnen(s. This was partly funded by the Baptist Union in S¢thlan¢l and will have a significani itnpact on our ability to fulfil our objectives in (he years ahead. We continu¢d to serve the mom vulnerable in our MMunity via: Nonhfield Community Foodbank- 12 ehurch members volunteer weekly to 5UPPOrt 95 local families. We also support the foodbank fmancially. This project is ongoing. Wellbeing Cafe- our café continued to operate iwo days per weel to provide an oasis of friendship and hospitslity. We estsblished a quality sewp for hybrid meetings for all our main gatherings (Sunday services. members rneeiings. leadership meetings). Thi5 j5 now the 'n¢w nornial,, and is WOTking well, ¢nhan¢ing the ability for people lo join with us regardless of personal mobility, health etc. A highlight of the y¢ar was a fwst whole church weekend awAy for 3 years. offering inter-generntional space to enjoy, outwith the nom121 church environrnent. We also look a group of14 young leader5to a global 24•7Prayer Gathering in Belf1, which was incredibly impaeifijl on every persijn. in mid-2022 we d¢cided io appoint our first ever Youth Work Trainee. on a temporary (10 month basis) in partnership with the Baptist Union of ScoilAnd. This was our first paid trdining paihw8y for a young adult working with teenagers and worked well in resourcing our youth prograrnme. Our long iern) youth work¢r resigned at th¢ cnd of2022 and we will aim io recruit for role in early 2023. Fomal mernb¢rship continues io decline slightly. This reflects a sizeable movemertt of church att¢nd¢r5 POSt- pandemic, as well as an of new people who are noi familiar with our baptisti¢ conviclion of church m¢mbership.
