The central aim of the society is to preserve and protect the Wemyss Caves and their ancient carvings and bring this important site the recognition it deserves

Objectives: 1Save Wemyss Ancient Caves Society is a non-profit distributing cultural and heritage company primarily concerned with the Wemyss Caves and their environs and working with partners such as Historic Environment Scotland, Scottish Coastal Archaeology and the Problem of Erosion, Fife Coast and Countryside Trust, Scottish Natural Heritage, SEPA, other non-governmental bodies and local government bodies. The company’s principal objects are: a)to conserve, preserve and endeavour to create permanent protection for the natural and cultural heritage of the Wemyss Caves and their carvings for the benefit of the public. b)to provide education to the public by publicising the caves and their carvings and to work with interested local educational establishments to provide a platform for study in the interests of ancient heritage and to collect archival materials relating to the caves and the local area. c)to provide recreational facilities and organise recreational activities with the object of improving the conditions of life for the persons for whom the facilities or activities are primarily intended. d)to facilitate the advancement of citizenship and community development.
