Recruitment and Appointment of Trustees
Gordon Beaton has been confirmed in the continued role of Secretary.
Mark Allan and Robert Malcolm decided to retire as Trustees following the award of the 2024 Prize.
Gordon Beaton and Judith Barber are in the process of recruiting two replacement Trustees, with an approach being made to previous winners of The Rob Hunter Prize.
Governing Documentation
The Trust is a Charitable Educational Trust established by the Deed of Trust dated 17[th] May 1995.
Charitable Purpose
The purpose of the Trust is to award an annual prize for academic achievement to a student or students of architecture at the Scott Sutherland School of Architecture, Aberdeen, in memory of the late Rob Hunter, architect and former tutor at the school.
Activities
The annual award of the prize was undertaken on 16[th] May 2025 at The Scott Sutherland School of Architecture in Aberdeen. The winner of the award was shared by Lila Toth and Amish Masood, who were each presented with a £150 book voucher in recognition of their work.
The Trust does not actively raise donations on an ongoing basis and funds the annual prize from cash reserves which are sustained by income from investments.
Trustee remuneration and expenses
The Trustees did not receive any remuneration or expenses during the year and there have been no annual expenses other than the prize money. The Trustees have set up a Website with maintenance costs currently covered by Ms Judith Barber (Trustee).
Reserves
The Trust’s reserves amounted to £4,408.72 on 31[st] May 2025. The reserves were transferred from the account of Mr Mark Allan when he retired as a Trustee to the personal account of Mr Gordon Beaton. A new charity account is to be opened with RBS.
The Trustees will continue to monitor the performance of the Trust’s finances relative to the prevailing economic conditions. At present it is acknowledged it is not possible to make the fund self-sustaining and that alternative sources of income must be found by a combination of sponsorship and donations.
Approved by the Trustees and signed on their behalf.
Gordon Beaton, Secretary
