The purpose of the charity is to advance heritage by promoting awareness of the Union Canal and its benefits, to provide recreational activities, facilities and activities for our members and the general public at large, and to promote, encourage and assist in the restoration, maintenance and use of the Canal particularly around Broxburn, Winchburgh and Philpston as an amenity, and recreational waterway.
Objectives: The organisation is established solely for charitable purposes within the district of West Lothian and in particular for the following purposes: 1. To promote all or any activities for the benefit of the community now or hereafter deemed by law to be charitable. 2. To promote, encourage and assist in the restoration, maintenance and use of canals in Scotland as amenity, recreational andlor commercial waterways, and to do all things necessary to that end. 3. To promote and organise co-operation in the achievement of the above purposes or any of them.
