The Astronomical Society of Edinburgh is setup to advance the education of the public about the science of astronomy and to promote astronomical research chiefly in the area of the City of Edinburgh and the Lothians. The Society achieves this by: (a) circulating and publicising information on astronomical matters by the publication of articles, books, online web-site, social media, etc. (b) encouraging astronomical study and observation (c) increasing popular interest in astronomy through regular public meetings at our venue and also online.

Beneficiaries: 'No specific group, or for the benefit of the community'

Objectives: The objects of the Society shall be to advance the education of the public about the science of Astronomy and to promote astronomical research chiefly in Edinburgh and its neighbourhood. In furtherance thereof: (a) to circulate information on astronomical matters by the publication of articles, books etc. (b) to encourage astronomical study and observation. and (c) to increase popular interest in astronomy.
