The Trust was established to generate investment income to enable grants and donations to be made to support education and sport, allow gainful employment of the young and disadvantaged, support health in particular grants for alcohol and drug abuse and to support other Scottish charities.

Objectives: The Trustees shall in their selection of purposes, institutions, foundations, bodies or trusts which are charitable in law take into consideration and pay special regard to (a) the advancement of religion and education and (b) the relief of poverty, suffering, disease, sickness, infirmity, age, distress and the physically and mentally handicapped, all whether in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland or elsewhere.
