The constitution of the Breakfast is now in the form of a SCIO which was approved by OSCR on 24 March 2017. The constitution which was signed on 1 October 2016 states that the governance of the Breakfast is in the hands of the Trustees who delegate general management to an Executive Committee.

## **Trustees**

During the year to 30 September 2024, the Trustees consisted of the following members:

## **Appointment of Trustees**

New or additional Trustees may be appointed by resolution of the Trustees. The number of Trustees shall not be less than five or more than ten.

## **Achievements and Performance**

In June 2024 we were absolutely thrilled to be able to host our Prayer Breakfast at the Prestonfield House Hotel. The event was sold out with the largest attendance at any breakfast for many years. It was a real blessing to be back together to pray and worship God.

Key participants from the UK and abroad, including international greetings from both Washington and Brussels, participated in the prayer breakfast. It was a joy to share this full program online through livestream venues.

The next National Prayer Breakfast for Scotland is being planned for June 2025.

## **Financial review**

## _**Results for the period**_

As a result of a Surplus this year, of £1,102 (2023: £3,194), the Breakfast held unrestricted funds in the general fund amounting to £5,531 (2023: £4,429) at the year end.

The Trustees are aware of the need to increase reserves further but are pleased to see this has started to happen whilst also meeting all current costs from the event. They are satisfied that the current level of reserves is adequate for the purpose of planning future events but those will need to be budgeted with full recovery of costs.

## **Signed on behalf of the Trustees**

## **Report of the Independent Examiner to the Trustees** _for the year ended 30 September 2024_

I report on the accounts of the National Prayer Breakfast for Scotland for the year ended 30 September 2024 which are set out on pages 4 to 6.

## **Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner**

The charity's Trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the terms of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005 and the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006 (as amt!ndt!d). The l:harity Trustees l:onsider that the audit requirement of Regulation 10(1) (d) of the Al:l:ounts Regulations does not apply. It is my responsibility to examine the accounts as required under section 44(1) (c) of the Act and to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.

## **Basis of Independent Examiner's statement**

My examination is carried out in accordance with Regulation 11 of the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006 (as amended). An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeks explanations from the trustees concerning such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently I do not express an audit opinion on the view given by the accounts.

## **Independent Examiner's Statement**

In the course of my examination, no matter has come to my attention

- I . which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements:

   - to keep accounting records in accordance with Section 44(1) (a) of the 2005 Act and Regulation 4 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations (as amended), and

   - to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with Regulation 9 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations (as amended)

have not been met, or

2. to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
