Governing Document
The Harray Young Farmers Club is an unincorporated charity. As governed by our constitution, the club provides activities, which further personal development, cultural education and training of young people to make rural life more attractive to the young members of the community.
Charitable Purposes
The clubs charitable purposes are to further personal development through providing activities to develop personal skills, to provide cultural education through experience and activities, and to make rural life attractive to young members of the community, therefore developing the wider community.
Trustee Recruitment and Appointment
The club is administered by a Management Committee who are appointed or elected at the Annual General Meeting of the club.

Summary of the main activities in relation to these objects
Harray Young Farmers partake in lots of different activities throughout the year against the other Orkney clubs; Sandwick YFC and East Mainland YFC. Activities include the ODAYFC Rally, Clay Pigeon Shooting, ODAYFC Biennial concert, Overwintering Competition and Ploughing Matches. Club competitions throughout the year include Clay Pigeon Shooting, Pool, Darts and Bowls, along with club visits to local attractions and club bonding activities.
Achievements and performance
Over the past 12 months the club have taken part in a number of different competitions and attended various events both locally and at North and National Level. After a competitive concert Competition earlier in the year, members got stuck in with helping support the District cater at the Annual Spectacular Spring Fayre, this was a great fundraiser to start of the year.
The club had various members participating in the Overwintering Competition where we saw Tom Flett winning Supreme Champion and Best overwintering Steer.
Members gathered to attend Highland show stock judging practices in the hope of gaining a space within the highland show Stockmanship Program held at the end of June. Tom Flett and Markus Muir both managed to get a place secured in the senior team. Along with the Stock judging lots of

members travelled down to the Highland show where Harray was Awarded with Club of the Year. This was a great success as this was the first time this trophy had come to Orkney. Thanks must go to those who helped behind the scenes in order to gain this trophy.
The Club took part in the shopping week float competition which showed great dedication and workmanship from all members of the club who put together a very good float. This seen Harray win the young farmer’s cup.
The next competition was the ODAYFC Annual Rally which was held in August. There were many members who attended competitions in all aspects from baking to sports. Members put in an outstanding amount of work, and their efforts were recognized when the club came home with the winning trophy as well as dominating the Stock judging and baking sections.
The ODAYFC held their Annual Clay Pigeon Shooting Competition which saw Harray Green (Andrew Seator, Alan Findlay and Ross Hewison) win the shield.
Beith and District Young Farmers came to Orkney in September for an Exchange where all our members took part in hosting and showing their members about. They attended our open stock judging and clay pigeon shooting as well as getting to see the Orkney sights. 19 Harray members then set of to return the exchange where they held live Scot, talent spot along with farm tours and much more.
We had lots of new members interested in competing in the junior speechmaking competitions. The Green Team consisting of Keri Ballantyne, Anna Hay and Libby Smith and the Purple team Elsa McIntosh, Hannah Thomson and Beth Fisher. The Green team won the Orkney district eliminations and Harray Purple coming in at close second. Both teams went on to compete in the north area speechmaking competition with the purple team coming in at second place. Then both teams went on to compete at the National speechmaking where Harray Purple Won and Elsa McIntosh got overall speaker of the day.
Along with the Junior Speechmakers Harray had 2 senior teams enter. Harray Blue- Campbell Ridland, Kelsey Harvey and Lily Hay and Harray Pink- Aidan Nicolson, Zara Johnston and Jack Leitch. Both teams did well at the North competition seeing Harray Blue come first and Harray Pink close second.
Harray held their Annual Pool, Darts and Bowls competitions at the end of the year. The winners of the doubles pool Millie Flett and Marcus Slater, doubles darts Aimee Sinclair and Ross Hewison. Singles Darts and Pool both went to Alan Findlay. Marcus Slater and Andrew Seator were the winners of the doubles Bowls competition.
Members had great success in the district winter competitions where Alan Findlay and Kieran Learmonth won the Darts doubles.
It was great to see members coming together along with district to organise a Mock wedding, this took place in March. Which saw a great cast put on a hilarious speech, followed by a meal and a dance.
Out with the competitions Harray hosted a variety of activities for members to attend, including isles trips. The club have done lots of fundraising for district as well as Harray which will benefit those wishing to go and compete in the future.
Overall, this year has been a tremendous success for the club seeing lots of new keen members new events and bring the club together by a busy calendar filled year with lots of events and activities.

In the forthcoming year the Management Committee are planning to sustain the amount of success and growth within the club and keep up the amount of community involvement which we have seen this past year.
The clubs Management are appointed by the members at our annual general meeting, which is held in March/April each year. The Chairman elected was Aidan Nicolson, Secretary – Millie Flett and Treasurer – Coleen Poke.
