As governed by our constitution, the club provides activities, which further personal development, cultural education and training of young people to make rural life more attractive to the young members of the community. ## **Charitable Purposes** This should detail the purposes as outlined by the constitution. ## **Trustee Recruitment and Appointment** Each year our club holds a new members night. We discuss people who are aged 14 or over and send out letters after our first committee meeting as well as advertising it via social media. At our new members night, we also have a ‘Ideas and Suggestions’ box. This gives the new members a chance to comment about what they enjoyed about the evening, if they feel they will return to young farmers and any events they would like to see added to our syllabus. We also elect a ‘School Representative’ onto the committee at our AGM, this provides a communication channel to promote events at the local school as well as providing feedback as to ways to improve the club and market ourselves better to encourage young people to come along. ## **Summary of the main activities in relation to these objects** This should detail the kind of activities which the charity routinely takes to meet it’s objectives. ## **Achievements and performance** Throughout the year, the club performed exceptionally well, following a full and varied syllabus. Many members represented the club at district, regional, and national levels, achieving great success. To start the year on a high, members won D and G Rugby 7s. Our sports teams competed at the D&G Field Sports and were crowned overall winners for the day, proudly bringing the trophy back to Stranraer and Rhins. The netball team went on to place 4[th] at West. Members also took part in both the Junior and Senior Stockmanship competitions at the Royal Highland Show, where two members progressed to the afternoon round and went on to win Best Dairy Pairs. The D&G team also achieved an excellent result, placing 2nd overall. There was further success for our Junior and Senior Handicraft teams, who achieved strong scores along with several individual prizes. We were also proud to see our club leader reach the final of the National Young Farmer of the Year competition. Four members represented the club in the D&G Mr and Miss Young Farmer competition. Our secretary was crowned Miss Young Farmer and also placed 3rd in Member of the Year, while one of our committee members achieved 3rd place in Mr Young Farmer. Our secretary then went on to represent the area at the regional round, where she placed 3rd in Miss Young Farmer. There was also great success at Beef, Dairy and Lamb dressing this year. Our speechmakers once again made the club extremely proud. The Junior team achieved 1st place at the D&G round and 2nd place at West, where our chair was awarded Best Chair outwith the winning team. They then went on to place 5th at the National final, with our chair once again winning Best Chair outwith the winning team — an outstanding achievement. The Senior team also had an excellent year, placing 1st at D&G, with the opposer winning Best Overall speaker on the day. They then achieved 2nd place at West, where our proposer was awarded Best Proposer outwith the winning team, before finishing 4th at the National final. In the forthcoming year the Management Committee are planning to promote the club more in the local community and try to attract new members to join. The clubs Management Committee are appointed by the members at our annual general meeting, which is held in March each year. The Chairman elected was Ailsa Buchanan, Secretary – Megan Forsyth and Treasurer – Iona Irving. ## **Financial Review** Stranraer and Rhins Young Farmers Club keep a reserve of £10,000.00 in the club bank account, this is to pay for the club expenditure and extenuating circumstances. The club is a non-profit organisation and where possible donates as much money to other charities as they can while keeping enough in reserve for the club to function. The club has returned a deficit of £1,958.03 for the year. This has arisen due to giving more out to charity this year and the expenses of our larger events such as dinner dance costing more to run. 4 The club is affiliated to the Scottish Association of Young Farmers Clubs, contactable through: SAYFC Young Farmers Centre Ingliston Edinburgh EH28 8NE The accounts for the year are attached, and form part of this report. The charity’s management committee consider that the audit requirement of Regulation 10 (1) (d) of the Accounts Regulations does not apply. It is my responsibility to examine the accounts as required under section 44(1) (c) of the Act and to state whether particular matters have come to my attention. ## **Basis of independent examiner’s statement** My examination is carried out in accordance with Regulation 11 of the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts and seeks explanation from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and, consequently, I do not express an audit opinion on the accounts. I have carried out such investigations as were necessary to enable me to form an opinion as to whether proper accounting records adequate for the purposes of the Charity have been kept and the financial statements of the Charity were in accordance with the accounting records. ## **Independent Examiner’s statement** In the course of my examination, no matter has come to my attention 1. Which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements: . to keep accounting records in accordance with section 44 (1) (a) of the 2005 Act and Regulation 4 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations, and - . to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with Regulation 9 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations. - have not been met 2.
