The Edinburgh Makars is an amateur drama company which encourages like minded people to come together and get involved in various theatrical productions throughout the year. We offer monthly evenings for members and non members to take part on a social side, to take part in quizzes, workshops and poetry/prose, rehearsed readings. We offer our premises to other groups to hold rehearsals and also use our props and costumes if required.
Objectives: The object of the Society is educational in that it seeks to encourage and stimulate interest and enthusiasm for dramatic work of all kinds and to encourage public appreciation of drama in Edinburgh, in particular by the staging of plays, especially those unlikely to be presented by the professional theatre, and the Society may undertake activities intended to bring about the attainment of this object.
