Governing Document

ENABLE Stornoway & District Branch is a charitable unincorporated association and the purposes and administration arrangements are set out in our constitution which was adopted on 7 January 2006

Recruitment and appointment of Trustees

All of ENABLE Stornoway and District Branch's trustees are appointed or reappointed by the members at our annual general meeting, which is held in June of each year.

Charitable purposes

Our purposes, as recorded in our constitution, are to promote the welfare of children and adults with a learning disability within the Western Isles including the meeting of their needs and the development of their capabilities all in furtherance of the objectives of our parent organisation, ENABLE Scotland (Charity number SC009024)

Our strategic objective is to work with key organisations in the Western Isles to ensure that children, young people and adults with learning disabilities are full members of the community. We campaign for better local services and work with families and friends to share experiences and support one another.

Activities and achievements

We had a successful holiday to Aviemore October 2025, an AGM Lunch in June 2025 and a Christmas party in January 2026.

Holiday 2026 will be later in October.

We would like to thank the local community for the monetary donations over the last year. Also grateful thanks to the Caladh Inn for all the hospitality. Also thankful to Lochs Motors, for helping with the holiday. Thanks also to Mann Judd Gordon for their ongoing support.

Trustee remuneration and expenses

The trustees did not receive any remuneration or expenses during the year.

Reserves

Reserves available for the use of the Charity are those that are readily realisable, less funds whose uses are restricted or else designated for particular purposes. It is the Trustees' policy to retain unrestricted funds to a level that equates to between 3 and 6 months unrestricted expenditure. these funds are required to cover costs and respond to emergency situations.

All funds held at 31 March 2026 are unrestricted.

Independent Examiners' Report to the Trustees of Enable Stornoway & District Branch

I report on the accounts of the charity for the year ended 31 March 2026 which are set out on pages three and four.

Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner

The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the terms of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005 and the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006. The charity trustees consider that the audit requirement of Regulation 10(1) (d) of the Accounts Regulations does not apply. It is my responsibility to examine the accounts as required under section 44(1) (c)of the Act and to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.

Basis of independent examiners' statement

My examination is carried out in accordance with Regulation 11 of the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeks explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently I do not express an audit opinion on the view given by the accounts.

Independent examiners' statement

In the course of my examination, no matter has come to my attention.
