Recrultment and appointment of trustees
The trustees are elected at the Annual General meeting. The President is elected for a period
of two years. The Vice President will also hold offi¢e for two years and will norniaily succeed
lo the Presidency. The Secretary and the Treasurer are eIt￿ed for fjve years.

The purpose of the Society is charitable, namely the advancement of the education and the
preservation and prorection of good he￿th in the field of urology, the Society's objects

and to seek solution5 to problems encountered by those worLing in Urology.

Activities and a¢hievemeDts
rhe Annual Tnexting was held earlier than usual to reestablish the lrnditional spring timing of
the meeting. This was hosted by Ayr Urology and took place in the M￿lne Hotel, Troon on
the 19 and 20th of April. There was an excellent tnix of international speakers and
presentations from the host team with a significant rnix of clini¢a]. and also non-techntcal
skills as topi¢s.
It was agreed that no further publication of the abstra¢ts submitted to the meeting would be
published in the Scottish Medical Journal as it w&s felt to be poor value for money. However
going forward it was agreed the SUS would support a TPD prize of £500 for the West of
Scotland meeting to allow for parity with prize awarded on the East of Scotland ARCP
meetin8.

patients with T3b+ renal cell carcinoma (RCC)? A retrospective study from the Scottish
Renal Can¢er Consortiurn (ScotRCC)" No TPD prize was awarded this year.

Lucy Drummond from Fife has successfully applied for this. She will &ssist on ihe
Laparoscopy Masierclass in Sene£31 in May 2024 and present an account of her trip at a
future SUS meeting. One more application could be coveTed this year though no further
applications have been received.
Trustee's remuneration 2nd expenses
No trustees received any remuneration durin8 the year. No trustees re¢eived any
reimbursemeni for expenses incurred during Ihe Courge of their duties.

Reserves
As a result of the surplus of £23,956 (2023 - defieit £8,218) for the year and an increase in
Ihe value of investsnents, the Society held unrestricted funds of £162,179 (2023 - £139,934> at
the year end dale. The trustee8 intend to continue to ensure the financial security of the
S¢onish urologi¢￿ Society.

on pages 5 to 7.

other than the charity and the charity's board of tnjstees, as a bodv, for my work or for this
report.
Rt8pe¢tTve responsibilitiu of trustees and examiner
Thc Charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with
the tern)s of the Charities and Trustee Investment (S¢otland) Act 2005 and the Chui1ies
Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006 (a5 aTnended). The charity twstees consider that the
audit requirement of Regulation 10(1) (d) of the Accounts Regulations does not apply. It is
my r¢sponsibility to examine the ac¢ounts as required under section 44(1) (c) of the Act and
to state whether particular matters have Come to my attention.
Basis of independeDt exarniner's statement
My examination is Ca￿led out in accordance with Regulation I l of the Charities Accounts
(Scotland} Regulations 2006. An exatnination includes a review of ihe accounting records
kcpt by the charity and a comparison of the a¢¢ounts presented Thith those Te¢ords. It also
includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeks
explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do
noi provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently, I do not
express an audit opinion on the view given by the accounts.

l. Basis of #¢eountin%
The accounts have been prepared on the Receipts and Payment basis in accordance with
the Charities and TNstee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005 and ihe Charities Accounts
(Scotland) Regulations 2006 (as atnended).
2. Nature and purpose of funds
Unrestricted funds are those that may be used at the discretion of the rrustees in
furtheran¢e of the obje¢ts of lh¢ ¢harity. Th¢ trustees maintain a single unrestricted fund
for the day to day running of the so¢iety.
Restricted funds may only be used for specific putposes. Restriclions ￿lse when spe¢ifLed
by the donor or when funds are raised for specific purposes. The charity has no resiri¢ted
funds.
3. Investments
Investsnents ￿e shown in the accounts at market value at the year end date.
4. Related party trADsactioDS
No trustees received any remuneration during the year (2023 - £nil). No trustees received
