Structure, governance and management ctd...
All new members receive a formal induction, including being provided with relevant documents such as the trust deed and the most recent financial statements. An explanation is also provided of the obligations of the members, and the association's administrative procedures and future plans and objectives.
The Management Committee oversee the property, policy and the affairs of the association.
The Committee has the power to appoint and establish terms of reference for such SubCommittees as it may from time to time decide.
The Management Committee includes members of 'constituent bodies’, organisations which cooperate in promoting the objects of the association and are regular users of the Community Centre. Constituent bodies which transact with the association do so on normal commercial terms.
The committee members have assessed the major risks to which the association is exposed, and are satisfied that systems are in place to mitigate exposure to the major risks.
Charitable purposes
The association's objects are to promote the interests of the inhabitants of the island of Stronsay in a common effort to advance education and to provide facilities in the interests of social welfare, and to secure the establishment, maintenance and management of a community centre and other facilities for activities promoted by the association and constituent members. The policies adopted in furtherance of these objects are as outlined in the constitution and there has been no change in these during the year.
Achievements and activities
The Stronsay Community Association ended 2024 with a very successful Hogmanay dance which was well attended and began 2025 hosting darts and Euchre. The local craft fairs throughout the year are very successful as we are lucky to have talented, creative people living in Stronsay. The fundraising quizzes held by members are always well attended and seem very popular amongst the community. Our young members of the Stronsay Community Association always shine with their organisational skills for our highlight of the year, the August Massive Weekend. This year they included a successful Horticultural show which was well supported.

Achievements and activities ctd...
The Stronsay Community Hall is the emergency centre for the community, we have the community generator parked at the hall. Working alongside the Stronsay Development Trust and Community Council, the Stronsay Community Association purchased a twenty-foot container to house the generator.
The local Community Council supported the Stronsay Community Association committee throughout the year with grants applied for including the purchase of fireworks and Christmas tree for the local community events. This year we were also able to apply to the Stronsay Development Trust for funds for entertainment and food. We bought extra Christmas lights this year to light up the hall for the season with their support along with a Mr Whippy ice cream maker which is hoped will be a popular investment for our large fundraising events to keep our hall the heart of the community.

The charity's committee members are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the terms of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005 and the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently | do not express an audit opinion on the view given by the accounts.
Independent examiner's statement
In the course of my examination, no matter has come to my attention:
1) which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements: - to keep accounting records in accordance with Section 44(1)(a) of the 2005 Act and Regulation 4 of the 2006 Regulations, and;
- to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with Regulation 9 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations
