**What the charity does:** Comunn Eachdraidh Nis records, preserves and promotes the history, language and culture of North Lewis for local and global communities and aims to promote social health and well-being through a range of activities for all ages.

**Objectives:** The Company will serve the North Lewis geographical areas of the Ness and Airidhantuim Community Councils from the Butt to Ballantrushal and the offshore islands of Rona and Sulaisgeir, without distinction of sex or of political, religious or other opinions, specifically in pursuance of the following, which are the objects of the Company:- (1) The advancement of citizenship and community learning and development and in particular the regeneration and improvement of the physical, social and economic infrastructure of the area, including assisting people who are disadvantaged because of social or economic circumstances. (2) The promotion of local heritage, culture, arts and the Gaelic language through the provision of a museum and archive and the creation of exhibitions, events, publications, facilities and other services related to the historical cultural, natural and geographical aspects of the area. to display and publicise the Collection for the public benefit. (3) To bring together, hold, adequately house, conserve and document a Collection of specimens being of local historical, artistic or scientific importance. (4) To collect, collate and record historical, genealogical, ethnological, archaeological, biological, geological or other information relevant to the area. (5) The development of educational and training opportunities at all levels providing a better understanding of the culture, heritage, history, archaeology and architecture of the area for the benefit of local inhabitants and the general public. and (6) The development of a community hub for social facilities and activities providing employment and volunteering opportunities.
