Members | The structure of the organisation consistsof a Board of Trustees, which holds regular meetings and generally controls the activities of the Organisation. The Board may at any time appoint any person to bea Trustee, by way of resolution passed by a majority vote at a board meeting. The Board ofTrustees elect (from among themeselves) a Chair, a Treasurer anda Secretary. The Board may also elect (from among themselves) further office-bearers ,if they consider that appropriate, and honorary posts. | AtMugdock Country Park Management are also invited to send a representativeto attend Board meetings. | each Annual General Meeting, one third of the appointed Trustees retire by rotation, being those who have been longest in | office. For members appointed on the same day thoseto retire shall be determined by agreement or in default of agreement by lot. Retiring Trustees are eligible for re-election. | | OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES Charitable Purpose The objectives of the charity are to preserve, restore, enhance and maintain features and items of historical, natural and ecological interest in or germanetoMugdock Country Park for the benefit of the general public in orderto advance the education of the general public and to promote a wider appreciation amongst the general public of the natural beauty and the history and heritage of Mugdock Country Park and its environs. The Trust achieves these objectives mainly by raising funds towards projects organised by or in partnership with Mugdock Country Park Management Committee.
Achievements and Performance | Mugdock Country Park is situated in an area rich in local history dating back to the Bronze Age. The most visited historic attraction is Mugdock Castle which dates back to at least the 14th century and possibly earlier. | The Trust has contributed to the repair and maintenanceof the Castle stonework and to further projects around the Park. The Trustees have also volunteered as stewards for open days, allowing visitors to go inside the Mugdock Castle tower. i During the year to April 2025 the Trust, working with the Park Mangement, continued to explore and support new projects. i In particular, in line with the 'Mugdock Country Park Strategy 2022-2027, the Trust is working closely with the Park Management | on ideas for improving the visitor experience at Mugdock Castle and have engaged with Consultants on planningthe potential development ofa Maze on the lower terrace in the Castle grounds with the incorporation of elements referencing Clan Graham. The Trust was succesful in accessing a grant towards the cost of an Archeological Survey of the Castle Grounds, required by Historic Environment Scotland (HES) prior to any such work being undertaken. A desk based survey was carried out, followed up bya Geophysical Survey. Following those surveys HES has suggested that some further work may be required, including some excavation. | During the year the Park Manager retired and a new manager was appointed. Asa consequence, work with the Trust has been interrupted whilea review of the Park Strategy is carried out, including consideration of projects impacting on Mugdock Castle. A review of Council spending and consequent restrictions on the Park Budget have also necessitated a review of spending by the Park. The Trustees will await a clear statement from the Park on its continuing support for and involvement with the Maze Project before commiting further funds to the project, including expenditure on the work required by HES. | The Trust has strong links with the Clan Graham of America who have made regular generous donations to the work of the Trust relating to Mugdock Castle (their ancestral home). In recognition of their generosity, the Park Management committee in partnership with the Trust, EDC and Stirling Councils regularly host visits by members of the Clan Graham of America to the Castle (the most recent being in August 2025).
