## APPENDIX 1

## Achievements and performance

Summary of the main achievements of | This year saw a pause in our bandhall program of refurbishments, with the the charity during the financial period | band being busy with a special new engagement alongside our usual annual community and fundraising concert engagements. Our new community band, which started in March 2024 progressed into bi-weekly rehearsals, culminating in their first public appearance at the Fife Charities Band Association Contest in September 2024, alongside our percussion ensemble group, which also started up early 2024. We are delighted with the progress both groups have made. Essential repairs to the band hall which commenced in 2021-22 took a pause this year, as we awaited the manufacturing of our new windows, with the first one being supplied and installed early 2025. Funding was awarded to help continue the window replacement program, along with exterior doors — much of this will be spent over the next two financial years, which will see us coming to the end of the Bandhall refurbishment program. Funding was also received to expand our range of percussion instruments such as marimba and gong. An ongoing review of our brass instruments resulted in a number of repairs being done, particularly as we start to look towards replacement of our largest instruments, the basses, before they need costly repairs. Alongside all this, we carried out key/regular events & engagements: Lochgelly Gala, Armistice Service, various concerts and events (St Serfs, Fife Council and Lochgelly/Benarty Galas), St Andrews Bandstand. Contests included FBBF Carnegie, FCBA - Challenge Shield - Scottish Championship March 2025. The carolling gigs at Christmas 2024 saw us back at Hopetoun House near Queensferry for a day’s carolling, where we have also been booked again for 2025. A new engagement for the band was a showing of ‘The Snowman’ with the band providing the soundtrack, on home ground, to a new capacity audience at the Lochgelly Centre. This was the highlight of our year as a band. We finished our festivities hosting ‘Carols at oor Bit’ where we invited the local community into the band hall to enjoy an informal Christmas celebration. We are looking forward to 2025-26, where alongside our usual annual commitments, we will be performing at the Edinburgh Festival in August 2025, and following our successful showing of ‘The Snowman’ at the Lochgelly Centre, we will be looking to repeat this success with two shows in December 2025.

Brief statement of the charity’s policy | The band policy is to be a not for profit organisation and do not have a on reserves defined level of reserves. In order to meet our fluctuating cost commitments, we endeavour to have around £2,000 in the bank account. This is purely working capital to be used at any time, and is not classed as held in reserves.
