Recruitment and appointment of Trustees

All the Association's trustees are appointed or re-appointed by the members at our annual general meeting, which was held in September 2025 for this period.

Governing document

The Association is a charitable unincorporated association, and the purposes and administration arrangements are set out in our constitution.

Charitable purposes

Our purpose, as recorded in our constitution, is to provide, in the interests of social welfare, facilities for recreation or other leisure time occupation for the inhabitants of the Dunfermline area so that their condition of life may be improved.

Activities and achievements

We operate our slot car racing track in our premises in Canmore Street, Dunfermline. This is the only such facility available to the inhabitants of the Dunfermline area.

We organised racing for local people every week throughout the year. We also organised three meetings to which people throughout Scotland were invited, and another two to which people throughout the UK were invited, using these to raise funds to support our activities. Furthermore, we organised three race meetings for local groups as a further fundraising venture.

We used the funds we raised to pay for the premises, and to maintain the racetrack and the cars and controllers that we lend to visitors and new members.

Trustee remuneration and expenses

The trustees did not receive any remuneration or expenses during the year.

Reserves

We successfully increased our income through membership subscriptions and fundraising activities this year. We had a surplus for the year of £1255.

The trustees’ policy is to maintain reserves of up to 12 months normal running costs to meet commitments and to cover any unexpected expenditure. Reserves at year end were £3994. Our goal in the short term is to increase the reserves to cover payment of next year’s rent which falls due in July 2026.

; Independent Examiner's Report to the Trustees of Ecurie Barnton

Scottish Charity Number $C017521

I report on the accounts of the charity for the year ended 31 August 2025.

Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner

The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the terms of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005 (‘the 2005 Act’) and the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006 (as amended) (“the 2006 Regulations”). The charity’s trustees consider that the audit requirement of Regulation 10(1) (d) of the 2006 Regulations does not apply. It is my responsibility to examine the accounts as required under section 44(1) (c) of the 2005 Act and to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.

Basis of independent examiner's statement

My examination is carried out in accordance with Regulation 11 of the 2006 Regulations. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts and seeks explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently I do not express an audit opinion on the view given by the accounts.

Independent examiner's statement

In the course of my examination, no matter has come to my attention:

  1. which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements: e to keep accounting records in accordance with Section 44(1) (a) of the 2005 Act and Regulation 4 of the 2006 Regulations, and

  2. e to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with Regulation 9 of the 2006 Regulations

have not been met, or

  1. to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
