The purpose of the Trust is to give financial help to past and present members of both the Edinburgh Academy and Fettes College, to enable them to advance their education or professional training beyond the point at which public funds or university scholarships are available, or when private or family sources alone are not quite adequate for the purpose. The Watt Trust has supported a number of projects over the years and welcomes applications for any kind of financial need applicants may experience as they complete their education or training. The projects may be pioneering or mainstream, but the underlying criteria the Watt Trust relies on to award its grants is that of genuine financial need.
Beneficiaries: 'Children or young people'
Objectives: The objects of the Trust shall be to provide for the furtherance of the education of pupils, bpast and present of the said Fettes College and The Edinburgh Academy (such pupils, past and present being hereinafter referred to as 'qualifying beneficiaries') including without prejudice to the foregoing generality the making avaijlable of financial assistance in the form of grants and/or loans to qualifying beneficiaries for education study and research at schools, colleges, universities and other places of learning and where appropriate study with or under the supervision of experts in their particular field both in the United Kingdom and Abroad.
