## Activities

**Activities:** 'It carries out activities or services itself'

**Purposes:** 'the advancement of religion'

**What the charity does:** As a parish church we are members of the Church of Scotland. However, our secondary aim is to provide practical support for our local communities in both the North Motherwell and Craigneuk areas. We seek to: promote equality and diversity. work to alleviate poverty. and support those in need. This commitment is evidenced in our community project (the New Opportunities Project [NOP]) which was established in 2007. Through the project we aim to support local families and strengthen the community by providing opportunities for people to participate in new activities. Everyone is welcomed - people of all faiths and none. Central to NOP is the belief that local people themselves have the skills and good will to develop activities for the benefit of all. We support a similar - but separate - charity in Craigneuk. We provide support and opportunities to young people through the uniformed organisations and offer a base for provision of a weekly meal for local homeless people.

**Objectives:** The advancement of religion.
