## Achievements and performance

This year, 2023 - 2024, members of the Adventure Sailing Trust board have been proactive by reaching out to new groups and our core supported groups in areas of multiple deprivation in the Central Belt of Scotland, namely Glasgow, Dundee, Greenock, and Lanarkshire areas. Monies distributed to supported groups and organisations this year have been used to financially support children from isolated and vulnerable families to experience a range of activities and experiences, including water based sports. This year we have provided financial support towards: * A Youth Project Programme in Glasgow, who work together to deliver a Life Skills programme to young people who are in kinship care. The young people are made up of 2 groups, 8-11 years and 12-16 years. A wide range of activities are provided to develop social, emotional, physical, creativity, self awareness and personal safety activities. Some of the outdoor activities included archery and canoeing during their annual residential stay. This well balanced programme helps the young people become more confident, responsible and successful individuals... - Young people have had the opportunity to experience a wide range of outdoor activities including wild swimming while taking part in a weekend camp within the Clyde Valley area. - Water activities at Strathclyde Park Watersports Centre were enjoyed by a group of youth who finished their day with a barbeque.

* Tubing at Bellahouston Ski Centre. This experience was thoroughly enjoyed during an evening visit. « Arrange of games and sporting activities has been provided by a group to offer respite to their young disadvantaged children who are experiencing crisis family situations. - A Water Sports Centre, based in Glasgow, gave young people new experiences - kayaking, canoeing and raft building. This experience also gave the young people knowledge of a fun outdoor facility within a short bus ride away from their home. * Children enjoyed a visit to Air Thrill in East Kilbride where friendships were strengthened and trusting relationships could be built on. A fabulous

experience for the young people where they could bounce their worries away for a short time.

The Adventure Sailing Trust, this year has received more applications for funding and we have been able to offer grants to groups and organisations throughout many areas of deprivation in central Scotland to support children in outdoor activities and watersports. Although our funding has fallen this year, due to the ongoing difficult economic climate, we have distributed funding, which had not previously been allocated post pandemic due to the lack of applications at that time.

## Financial review

The Adventure Sailing Trust recognises that there is a need to carry an appropriate level of reserves to provide a margin of safety in the event of temporary difficulties with funding and to enable our charity to take advantage of development opportunities if presented. The Trustees have discussed and considered that a reserve of £600 would be held for this purpose.

## Future Plans

Through experience and discussions this year, the Trustees have identified the following areas to explore for the year ahead.

- e Tocontinue contact with existing groups to discuss their plans and programmes for the year ahead. Thus identifying how best to support them in line with the purposes and objectives of the Trust.

- e To explore further sources of funding to continue supporting the young people from areas of multiple deprivation in line with our Aims and Objectives,

- e To work in partnership with local authority service providers to identify the areas / local groups which would benefit from financial support.

- e Having taken advice and explored the option of developing the shore—based land, further discussions with Trustees and contractors will take place throughout this coming year.
