The Free chUh of Scoiland is a Pr¢5bcrIan church adhering in its worship and dlxtrine to the EKTrSition of ihe ChuTch of Scotland at th¢ Reforniation. There is an explanatory document which explains the origins of the Church and which gives the historical backwound to the Church coming tnto b¢iD8 in 1843 and lists documents in which is ¢mLNxlied it5 constitution. Daiing from 1843 but with its roois in the Refom)ation, it owes its di5tTnctive title to its historical struggle to remain 'free' from state interference in its iniernal affairs. It has close and actie relations with many other Refornied churches of Jeslts Christ throughout the world and stands firnily in the tradition which accepts the Bible in its entirety as the Word ot" tiod and, theretore, derives its tom)s ot-teaching, worship, ministry and government trom it. Th¢ main ¢mphasis of (wr worship is th¢ preaching of the gospel _ the good neThs of a free and sovereign salvation through Jesus Chrisl alone. The ConegatIon is within the Inierness. hber & Ros$ p$bytery and is authorised by the Chur¢h to have a minister pAid from the eentral funds of the Church. The Chur¢h building and the Minister's manse are the pn)perty of the ¢oMgregatton and atr held in trust by locally elected property (or con8resational) trustees under th¢ Church's Mod¢l Twst D¢¢d. Trustees and ollice Bearers The conegatIon is governed and administered b>" elted oifice Eearers (all volunleeTS) and tts minister. The Kirk S¢ssion, IKing the mini51er and elected elders, has responsibilitv for spiritual oversight, while the Deacons, Court, COrnFK)sed ot"Kirk Session members plus elected deacons, oversees financial and property matters. Under Charity Law. the Dexons, Court are deemed to k the trustees of the congregation as those with r¢sp)nsibility for day to dav management and control. This is distinct from the role of property (congregational) trustees who are responsible only for holding propety in trust. Any election process must involve the communicant membership of the congreggtion_ There is no fixed tem) for Trusteeship. Prior to their appointment, new Trustees would have seThred the Church for some time in i'arioug roles and would be familiar with the Churoh's values. its aims and objectives as well as its day-to-day op¢txtions. As part c>f their induction programme, new TStee$ are requir¢d to understand their ststutory responsibilities as well as the responsibilities of their office within thc ¢ongwgation a$ eldcr or dcacu). A¢tivities Athievtments During the lastyear. th¢ congregation met re8u12rl)' and carried out various activities inpursuit ofthe above stated aims. Hkghlight& events and developm¢nts of note in the year include the followtng: In relation to eongreggtionAI activities.. Every Sunday we mettwice in tk church for WOlp. Each Weth)esday evening we mrt for Bible audy and prayer. Every Snd Sunday of the month we take the Se1¢¢ in the I8] Care Home. On Tueglays we ran a Dropin Cafe for the community. Throushthjt the year we held gn E&¢er Setvice, Air Service. Harvest Thanksgiving Seniiee and a Caml seIe4 to all ofwhich the community camealon We have also had a number of missM)nary organisations comeand speaK whom we fir&ncialty support Ev¢ry ft>rtnIt on Mondays th¢ Knittin8 and Sewtn8 8roup met in ourhall. This is attendcd by pwpl¢ in th¢ Tmunity. Ev¢ry W¢dn¢sday morning th¢ Moth¢r& T(Kldl¢rgroup m¢t in our hall. The wom¢n in our church held a coffee morning to raise funds for Women for Mission (WFMk an organisation that supports mission Frojects worldwide. 'Ihe Ross-shire Flower Llub also used our hall for flower aThgement demonstrationsto whlch metnlRrs of the commwlty and the surrounding atEa came. We led a eommunity Remembrance Service. Every Snd month wetake Assemblies in the I1 primary sclM)ol, and atr involved tn prize giving and end ofterm lebtiOn& and we took Txrt in the Remembrance Service at the School Remembrance Garden. In relation to eongregatiollal funding: We are thankful for the financial supwrt and commitment frorn the congregation. Reserves Resultsfor iheyear As a result of all unrestricted fund deficit for the year of £5,518 (2023.. £10,048) the wngregation's unrestricted funds had a balance of £36.753 {21123.' £42,271) at the year end. The G¢)ngregatioD also had restricied funds amounting to £38) (2023.. £3, 971). Reserves The trnstees satisfied with the level of reserves retained by the charity, noting that th¢ defjcit this year was considerably less than il rnight have been with the work on the stone boundary wall costing £22,200. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a cornparin of the aeeounts presented with those records_ It also includes consideration of any unllswal items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeks explanations from the trustees concerning such matters.
