AchlevemewEts and Perforniance
The mllinstAy of our congregation is the worship of God and sharing the GLKXI News of Jesus ChrisL chiefly
through worship and outreach. Sunday and midweek wothip has ci)ntinued with its wide variety of music &nd
exploration of the hymntx)ok and much of the preaching f£￿ on the Gospel of Luke. The Director of Music
continue5 to encourage the musical life of the con8r¢gation and direction of the choirs. The 2024 musical
concert programme was well received with an ecleciic mix of instrumentalists and vocalists. The worship md
growth ¢ornmittee led evening services during Holy Week and a shared service on Maundy Thursday was
hosted by our neighbourJ ai All Saints Scottish Episc<)pal Church. The handEell ringers participated in a wide-
ranging programme, (￿k part in church concerts. Sunday services and Christmas Worship and ¢onlinug tu be
a valuable part of church life. We welc(ymed Thvo new members by ¢erttfi¢ai¢ of transfe￿nCe during the year
and had severaL new attenders at worship. It wa8 a delight to celebrate a bAptism and two weddings and to
recognise the respective contrI￿tIonS to the life of the church of several ¢ld¢rs with 50 year and 30 year
ertificates. We ordained and admitted one new elder to the Kirk Session.
Lastyear saw the culmination of our organ projecl. including ils modification to an electro-pneumatic function.
Its reliability and frc.sh tonal notes accompanying worship have been noti¢cable. We have b￿n fortunat¢ to
hav¢ hostcd scveral meetings of the Gl&8gow Society of Organisls.
The Kirk Session maTrntain5 thc life of the congregation througb its v8riow8 cornmittces. We are 8rateful to
dedicated conveners and the willingness of membeT5 to volunteer. We have noticed, al(m8 With many other
churches, the in¢r¢asing average age of office bearers and are mindful of the ¢ffe¢t this can have on all that we
can do ￿ a Congregation. The church and community commiltre continues ￿ arrange coff¢e mornings and
other cvents to enL'oura8e the wider Itfe ofthe congre8ation outwith Sunday worship. The worship 2nd ￿Qwth
committce has triailed a new I￿k group and study gTOUPS. The Guild has likewise maintained its regular
meetings with a variety of speakers throughout th¢ y¢ar. 'nK pastoraj care cominittee has invested heavily in
maintaining links with our elderly and hO￿ebOUnd member5 through regular visits and distribution of flowers,
cards and other 8ift8 at different times of the year. The property committee has not been idle with various
proj¢cts king completed to maintain the church ¢statc. its diligence has helped maintain a healthy interest in
renting the chur¢h halls from varioLL8 groups and 0r8anisali(￿5.
The Presbytery planning process has continued apa¢e. We n(Xed the union of our neighbouring conwegations,
St David's Knightswood, Knightswood St Mar8airt's and Temple Anniesland and the unioT] Ot"Partick South
and Balshagray Victoria P￿. These changes have left the area in a state of flux and we have borne this in
Tnind when considering our owrk cluster grouping. The Kirk Session has built upon links with Broomhill
Hyndland Parish Church Amd Blawarthill Parish church linked with St Columba Gaelic Church. Rev Melvyn
Wood retired frorn F41awarthill Parish Church linked with St Columba Gaelic Church and we 8ave thanks for
his ministry. The Kirk Session has agrecd to pursuc a linkage proposal arnong Jordanhill, Blawarthill and Si
Columba. It h&8 been proposed to Prcsbytcry that this triple linkage would have 1.5 ministy posts and
BToomhill Hyndland have l. If agreed by Pr￿byt¢ry concurred with by national Committees, this would
forni the final adjustment for our cluster at this time.
This year we were the placement trdining l)&qe for aN)ther two ministy discernment sttt&nts who have gone
forward for national assessment conferences. It remains a sO￿e of pride that we can be of service to the
national church in this way and encourage those exploring a viK*ion in ministy.
