Structure •nd Governanco
In terms of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scolland) Act 2¢X)5 and the CharrtiesA¢coLtnls
IS¢otlandl rogulalions 2006, the vestry reports to the congregation as follows.
1. St John's Episcopal Church, Johnstone is a registered Scottish Charty ISC0154351.
2. It is a member of the Diocese of Glasgow and Galloway of the Scottish Episcopal Church and i8 in lull
ommunion with the AngI￿an Church.
3. The superior aulhorty is the Bishop of Glasgow an(1 Galloway.
4. All of its affairs are govorneil by the Vestry.
Appointment of Vestry Members
Vestry members are elected or appointed by the Annual General Meeting e$tsbli$hed by constitution and

It is the duly of the Vestry lo manage the temporal affairs of the congregation with responsibilty to keep
the fabric and the property of the church and other buildings in good working order and to look after the

The Church's principal activity'es include public worship in sacrament and Pfayer, Christian education.

Voluntsgrs
The vestry is grateful for the lime free￿ given by a large number of volunteers, wf(hout whom many of the
act￿rt￿S would be unable to operate.
Achievements and perfomian¢e
The Church Continues to make its facilities available for use and provide worship for the whole
community.

Flnanclal Review
A deficit of £609 has been made during the financial year. This was after paying for a new organ which
cost £2.850, Our cash surplus is reasorÈably healthy and stands at £26,226. Our tolal funds remain at
£49,996.
Energy costs are particularty hyh this year, however, fdlowing recent meter readings, it woukl appear we
are in credit.
Plans for future perfods
The Vestry will continue its range of pre8enl a¢tivilie$ in the foreseeoble fulure.

The Vestry has adopted a poli￿ of trying lo maintain a level of unrestrided reserves such that, in the
event of a signrficanl drop in income, the church would be able to maintain ils current level of actNi(ies for
a reasonable pefiod until replacement funding is obtained.

appreciation of the transactions of the Church during the financial year. The members of the Vestry are

the Chariiies and Trustèe Investment, (Scollandl Act 2005 and the Charities Accounts IScollan*Jl

reasonable steps for the prevention andlor detection of frnud and other irregulariltes.

The Church's Vestry members are responsible lor the p￿paratIOn of the accounts in accordance with the
terms of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005 and Charities Accounts Iscotlandl
Regulations 2006. The Church's members of the Vestry consKler that the audiÉ requirement of RegL¢lation
10{1} Idl of the Accounts Regulations does not apply. It is my
R$sponsibilty lo examine tha accounts as required under section 44111 I cl of the A¢t and to slate
whether particular matters have come to my attention.
Basis of Independent examiner's statement
My examination is carried out in accordance with Reguktion 11 of the Charities Accounts (Scotlandl
Regulations 2006. An examination includes 8 review of the aceounling records kept by the charity and a
comparison of the accounts presented wf(h those records. 11 also includes considerat￿n of any unusual
r(ems or disclosures in the accounts. and seeks explanations from the trustees Con￿rning such matters.
The procedures und8rtaken do not provide all the evidence that WOL*ld be required in an aLtdk. and
nSequent￿ I do not express an aLtdit opinion on the view given by the accounts.

No other expenses or remuneration wer8 paid lo trustees
Propety Expenses
G88 and electric meter readings have now been completed and we are in credit. Every effort is
being made lo obtain a refund.
Significant repairs were undertaken on the roof due to the weather.
Continued restoration costs included completion of the roof and the stain glass windows.
Miscellaneous income :.Social Commrttee
CongregalKJnal expenses includes refund ol expenses as well as £300 for the Verger. Having h8d
a Curate for the year as well our Congregational expenses have been greatly increased to the
Iravelling costs of the Curate for the year. This will not bg the case in tho next yeai financial year.
