Shetland Women’s Aid works to end domestic abuse and gender-based violence, protect and advance the rights of women, children, and young people, amplify their voices, and mitigate the impact of abuse on their lives. We deliver a three-stage trauma recovery program for victim-survivors of domestic abuse (DA) and gender-based violence (GBV), offering one-to-one support, group work, refuge accommodation, children’s services, and more. Through prevention education in schools, organisations, and the wider community, we raise awareness and promote a culture of zero tolerance toward violence and abuse. We also provide Independent Domestic Abuse Advocates (IDAAs) for women and children referred to Shetland MARAC, ensuring tailored support and advocacy.

Objectives: 4.1 to advance. and continue to work towards ending domestic abuse and other Gender Based Violence in our community. 4.2 to advance. and protect women, children and young people's rights. 4.3 to promote. and protect the views of women, children and young people who have experienced domestic abuse and other Gender Based Violence. 4.4 to relieve the negative impact domestic abuse and other Gender Based Violence has on women, children and young people's lives.
