Trustees, Annual Report Year ended 31 December 2023 Strueture, Govcrnan¢¢ and Management Governing Do¢ument The Church is administered in a￿OrdanCe with th¢ t¢rnis of the Deed of Constitution (Unitary Forni). R¢¢ruitm¢nt and Appointment of Trustees Members of the Kirk S&ssion ar¢ the c])arity t￿￿tee8. The Kirk Session is responsible for all matters r¢lated to the Congregarion aDd meets up to 6 limes a year. In May 2023 the Kirk Session appoitited a smaller Executive Group to take forward futur¢ plans, including church activiti¢s, patterns of worship, pastoral visiting and reviewing the roll alld attendance. "The Kirk Se￿10￿ is also guided by a Financc Group and a Property Group. Objectives and Activities The Church of Scotland is TrinitarAan in do¢trine, Refornied in tradition and Presbyterian i polity. It exists to glorify Gixl and to work for the advancement of Chrtst's Kingdom througbout the world. As a national Churcty it acknowledges a distinctive ¢all and duty to bring the ordinances of r¢ligion to the people in every parish of Scotland through a territorial ministy. It c(poperates with other Churches in various ecumenical bodies in Scotlaud and beyond. Weekly servic¢s are held at 11.15 in the Parish ChurclL These ServI￿S are live-strean￿l on YouTube. Café style servi￿$ are held monthly. often led by the Worship Group. A reading rota alld a PTa}er rota Provide opportunities for members of the congregation to be involved in services. Th¢ Kirk Sessioll recently approved the trial of three 9.00 services. which will take place in the autumn and will led by th¢ Worship Group. Until June 2023, services were also twice monthly in Cortachy Church. The final service at Cortachy was held on Sunday 18 June 2023. The Kirk s￿l0n b&s agreed to dispose of Cortachy Church and the General Tn￿teeS have recently authoris¢d the sale of the building. Me&sy Churcb, aimed prinwily at families, restarted in the autumn of 2023 with Mo&¥y Auturnn, followed in DeCeM￿r by Me&sy Cbri5tm8s. Messy Chinese New Year, Messy Easter and Messy Climate followed in the first half of 2024. Me&gy Olyrnpics and a picnic are planned for August 2024. Attendance to date has vaTi¢d from 8 adults and 12 childrcn to 12 adults and 20 childrnL

Trustees, Annual Report Year ended 31 December 2023 Achievements and Performane¢ The Social and fiundraising Group have organised a different activity each month since September 2023. These have included a basket qui4 a Christmas Fair, a Burns Supper and a 'Naughty but Nice, evening of desserts. Oth¢r a¢tivities include Fa￿llY time, h¢ld once a w¢ek duriDg school holidays. provides games and activities for childr¢n (accompanied by au adult). Numbers vary but have ranged from 5 adults and 7 children to 20 adults and 34 children Drop-in for tea l ¢offcc and a chat take5 place onc¢ a month A monthly film night. held over the winter months Organised by the Guill Souper Tuesday pmvides soup and a rolL together with teas and coffees and often home-n]ade cake over the winter months Ln addition to church activities, our batls are well-used by a wide range of ¢oEnmunity groups including Floral Art, S¢ottisb Countiy Dance, Tai Chi, Qui Gong, Carpet Bowls. Angus Folk and Knit & Natter. Plans are being develo[￿d to refurbish Kirrietnuir Parish churc￿ allowing us to make much ktter use of the space we have. Proposals include removing the pews. screening off thc side aisles to provide breakout areas and providing additional storage at the Tear of the churclL Lighting and audio-visual facilities will also b¢ upgraded. Architects and El¢ctrical Mechanical Engineers have been appointed and WO￿ is currently underway to develop detailed costings, which will b¢ submitted to the Kirk Session for approval. Financial Revielv The Congregation's princtpal source of incom¢ to the General Fund contillues to arise in the fomi of voluntary donatioDS from m¢mbers, namely Gift Aid contributions, weekly freewill offering scheme and open plate collections. At first glance the accounts appear to show that the income from these sources incre&sed dwing 2023 (Note 3 in th¢ a¢¢ounts) but this is not a true comparison because the Kirk Session agreed to change the meth(Ml of accounting in 2023 fronL the Accruals basis to the Receipts and Payments basis. The Rweipts and Payn]ents account reflects the actual money Ieceived and paid out during the year and does not tak¢ account of timing differences. For example, the Tax recovered on Gift Aid contributions in 2023 was £25,898 (again see Note 3) and this represents the tax repaid in respect of 2 y¢ars Gift Aid contributions, If we ¢]iminate this timiDg differenc¢ there was actually a reduction of 140/0 in the regulat donations from memb¢rs. This bas been caused mainly by a reduction in th¢ nun]ber of people making regular contributions to thc Church and is a reflectioll of the increasing age of the congregation. It is obviously a matter of Conce￿ alld thc Kirk Session has agreed to undertake a stewar<L8hip ¢ampaign to address this issue. Income from the use of church pren]ises continues to make a valuable contribution (£11,706 in 2023) and interest on bank and other deposits showed a ¢oDsiderable increase due to a rccovery inthe level of ititer¢st rates.
