Objectives: The Association is an unincorporated charity registered in Scotland (Charity Number SC 014424) and its object is to help those suffering in poverty from contracted incurable diseases by awarding one-off grants and/or benefits. Potential eligibility is restricted to those suffering in poverty as a consequence of having contracted one or more incurable physical or mental diseases not present at birth and not the immediate consequence of an accident which, even after such treatments and use of such aids as may be available, causes a substantial (in the sense of significantly large) impairment to the applicant's ability to carry out ordinary day to day activities. Consideration is given to cases where there is a congenital background with a supervening disease / condition making the case an incurable one. Persons applying for the assistance of the Association must be able to demonstrate that they have been domiciled in the geographical area covered by the Association for a period of not less than 5 years unless at the discretion of the Association.
