**What the charity does:** The Society exists to promote and encourage the study of the history of Christianity in Scotland. It adopts a non-sectarian approach, holds  biannual conferences at a highly subsidised rate, offers an essay prize to promising doctoral students, and provides grants for new research. Through its periodical, the Society makes the study of Scotland's religious past available to a wider audience.
