awards to those considered suitable, having regard to the overall objectives of the Trust.
During the year £11,405 (2024 £5.900) in lotal was paid oul to successful applicants.
Reserves
The reserves of the Trust originate from the initial bequest. together with movement in the
value of investments and accumulated income. The T￿SteeS have adopted a reserves policy
that should ensure the continuing ability of the Trust to meet its objectives. The level of
Un￿StrICted reserves held at 30 September 2025 was £248,907 {2024 £223,408).
Future Plans
During recent years, the administration costs of the Trust had increased and the income from
investments ha5 remained static. To reduce costs and to safeguard the future of the Trust. the
administration, which had traditionally been undertaken by Thomlons Law LLP, was taken in
house during 2024. This has reduced the administration costs significantly, allowing more
funds to be available to allow the Trust to meet the charitable purposes without depleting
reserves.

Independellt Examiner's Report to lh¢ Trustees of Joseph Alexander Trust
I report on the account5 of the Charity for the period ended 30 September 2025 which are set out on pages I
to6.
Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner
The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the ternis of
the Charities and Trustees Investment (Scotland) Act 2005 and the Charities Accounts (Scotland)
Regulations 2006 (as amended). The charity trustees consider that the audit requirement of Regulation
l O(l} (d) of the Accounts Regulations does not apply. It is my responsibility to examine the accounts as
required under section 44(1) {c) of the Act and to state whether particular mallers have come to my
attention.
Basis of independent examiner's statement
My examination is caLTied out in accordance with Regulation I l of the Charities Accounts (Scotland)
Regulations 2006 (as amended). An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the
charity and a Comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of
any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeks explanations from the trustee5 concerning any
such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an
audit, and consequently I do not exp￿SS an audit opinion on the view given by the accounts.
Independent examiner's statement
In the course of my examination. no matter has come to my attention..
which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements:
to keep accounting re¢ords in a¢¢ordance with Section 44(1) (a) of the 2005 Act and
Regulation 4 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations, and
to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with
Regulation 9 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations.
have not been met, or
2. to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding
of the accounts to be reached.
