Governing Document
The Lesmahagow Young Farmers Club is an unincorporated charity. As governed by our constitution, the club provides activities, which further personal development, cultural education and training of young people to make rural life more attractive to the young members of the community.
Charitable Purposes
To promote the culture, education and training of young people, to further their knowledge of country life, to create a fuller realisation of the duties and responsibility of citizenship, to provide a greater interest and efficiency in Agriculture and to make rural life more attractive to the young members of the community by providing social amenities and means of healthy education.
Trustee Recruitment and Appointment
The Committee of Management shail consist of Office Bearers, i.e. Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary, Press & Minutes Secretary, Club Leader, Treasurer, Assistant Treasurer, and 8 ordinary members. The Chairman shall have the casting vote as well as a deliberation vote.
Office bearers and members of the committee shail be elected by members at the Annual General Meeting. The retiring Chairman and Secretary will be automatically co-opted to the committee for one year. Vacancies occurring during the year may be filled by the Committee by co-option.
Summary of the main activities in relation to these objectives
We aim to undertake 2 charity events, 2-3 educational events, 3-4 fundraising dances, 3-4 social outings, 1 club exchange, 2 recruitment events, 1-2 family events, 3-4 sports tournaments, at least 2 agricultural competitions, a children’s Christmas party, a variety concert and a celebratory dinner dance in each year and may undertake other events as they arise.
Achievements and performance
In addition to the club events, we participated in many district, regional and national events and competitions gaining achievements along the way. in the forthcoming year the Management Committee will promote the club by further charitable fundraising.
Financial Review
The club is holding reserves of £38,782 (2025: £31,513) at the end of the financial year. There was a surplus for the year of £635 (2025 Deficit: £635) forthe year. We will continue to subsidise our events to encourage member participation.

Independent Examiner’s Report to the Management Committee on the unaudited Financial Statements of the Lesmahagow & District Young Farmers’ Club.
{ report on the financial statements of the Charity for the year ended 28 February 2026 set out on Pages 7 to 9.
Respective responsibilities of the management committee and independent examiner
The charity’s trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the terms of the Charities and Trustee investment (Scotland) 2005 Act and the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006. The charity's management committee consider that the audit requirement of Regulation 10 (1) (d) of the Accounts Regulations does not apply. It is my responsibility to examine the accounts as required under section 44(1) (c) of the Act and to state whether particular matters have come to my attention,
Basis of independent examiner's statement
My examination is carried out in accordance with Regulation 11 of the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison ofthe accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts and seeks explanation from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and, consequently, | do not express an audit opinion on the accounts.

Independent Examiner’s statement
In the course of my examination, no matter has come to my attention
- Which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements: . to keep accounting records in accordance with section 44 (1) (a) of the 2005 Act and Regulation 4 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations, and
. to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with Regulation 9 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations.
