Governin¥ Documetti
The Church is administered ij) accordance wlth th¢ ternls of the Deed of Constitutton (Unitary Form).
R¢cTUltmellt and Appolntment of Trustees
Members of the Kirk Session are the charity trtLSte&s. The Kitk Session member5 are the elders of the
Church and are ¢hos¢n from those memb¢rs of the church who are considered to have the appropriate gifL8
and skills. The minister. who is a mernber of the Kirk sessio￿ is elected by the congregauon and induct¢d by
Presbytery.
OrgaDis#lional Strnctur£
The Kirk Se95ion which meets nine time5 per year is responsible for both spirithal affairs within the church
and the financial managmeni of it's affai￿. Certain other responsibiltties are d¢le8aled to ihe Finance Group
and the Property group es appropriatr.
Objettives #nd A¢tÉYitie5
The Church of Seoiland is Trinilarian in doctrine, Refornied in tradition and Presb)¢erÈan in polity. It exists
to glorify God and io work for the advancem¢nt of Chrtsvs Kingdom throt]ghout the world. As a national
church. it acknowledges a distinctive call and duty to bring ordinances of religion to the people in ev¢ry
parish in Scotland through a territorial minis￿. It c(Kiperales with other Church¢5 in VgTiOUS e¢uTnenieal
bodies in Scotland and b¢yond.
Aehievements and P¢rforni#bre
PTe5bytery Planning 2nd the fviure of the congregation dominated our WOEk throllgh the year resultin8 in our
published place in the Presbytery Plan as being the dissolution of the church and parish at the end ofthe
pre5¢nt ministy.
This radieally ehanged the outlook of the congregation and much has had to be Tefocused on what i5 a'good
ending" rath¢r than a rcvitalisation Of our mission and ministry in the comrnunity.
The continued frustraiiot] ofnot being able to Complete the works to allow the sale ofchurch House only
adds to our financial constrains and thu5 w¢ were not able to pay in full the new 'Giving to Grow" in 2023.
However the continued 5UPPOrt of the congregatiOTTr for one another. partic12rly at 8 time when oifice b¢4rers
had a gr¢at deal of persollal health atxd family m&tt¢rs to 8ddw. demot]strates its life and vttality.

FiN¥ncial Review 20231 Budget 2024
On goin8 i$5ues with the forniat ofpresenwion of accounts for 2022 mtsnt a detay in presenting the
ac¢ounts until 2025.
The bud8ei for 2024 set by the Finance CommÈttee acknowledges the continued challeng¢s in meeting both
outsianding Ministry and Mission costs and risin8 energy ¢ost5. Funds will be drawn down from reserves to
address these matters and advice is being sought on further ways to increa5¢ revenue.
Once again w¢ hav¢ applied for variance io how Giving to Gr¢)w is paid. but expe¢1 ￿ do that in fi]11.
utili5ing reseryes.
The rise in tntlation gen¢Tally means we need to ask the congregation to be more 8encrous when (hey are
facing financial ehallenge5 in their everyday lives and the reality is that ev¢n the rnost commÉtt¢d small
tnembership cannot sustain the required l¢Yel of givillg even after the sa]e of assets addrew ¢urremt issues.
Re￿r¥e$ Polity
At the year end, th¢ church held toral funds of £21.975 of which is unrestricted knds of £1.813, restrieted
funds of £17.995 and endosvm¢nt fund5 of £2.167. Unre5tri¢t¢d geEterdl fund5 of £1.813 which is needed for
unfores¢¢n repair5 10 the church buildings. We reEard this arno￿¢ as insuffjcieni and unsatisfactory in view
of the enornious costs which rould iE incurred. Th¢ reMa￿ing unre5trictrd funds of £106 have been
d¢si8nared for the so¢tal committee fund.
