SEE’s committed to providing filmmaking opportunities for all, delivering high-quality learning, training, and production programmes that develop people of all ages across education, community, and talent and skills development. Through a progressive pathway of development, SEE’s programmes build confidence, enhance well-being, raise attainment, and equip participants with the knowledge and skills to progress into further and higher education, and into the film, TV, and media industries. Founded in 1981 with the aim of using film education and production to develop people, support the work of partner organisations, and be at the heart of community development, SEE now has a regional and national presence across Scotland. The organisation is proud of its place within the community and its track record, and positive reputation for developing people from areas of deprivation and low-income households, as well as those living with disabilities, or from diverse backgrounds.

Objectives: The organisation is established for charitable purposes only, and in particular, the objects are: to advance education through the provision of film education and filmmaking training programmes. and to advance the relief of poverty through targeted education programmes working with communities situated in areas of multiple deprivation and in rural areas, thereby improving well-being and life chances of participants and providing supported pathways into employment and further education. and to advance the art of film through programmes of film education and filmmaking training that promote excellence and an understanding and appreciation of the central importance of film and media within contemporary Scotland. and to advance education and training opportunities through moving image production work, where the provision is made with the purpose of education and the development of filmmaking skills and where such opportunities are prioritised within areas of multiple deprivation.
